Fresh off her second season of RUPAUL'S DRAG U on Logo as the Dean Of Drag, Lady Bunny, the iconic New York drag diva of Wigstock has announced an extension to the super raunchy, THAT AIN'T NO LADY!, her first one woman cabaret show in almost a decade...bringing some much-needed trash back to the increasingly Disney-fied Times Square area. The production is currently in previews at La Escuelita Cabaret Theater, (301 W 39th St. @ Eighth Ave) and has now been extended for an open run. The official opening will be on Tuesday, December 5, 2011.
Due to popular demand, THAT AIN'T NO LADY! is a fiery and calamitous mashup of hot music, ultra hot topics and sizzling hot boys! Featuring an arsenal of jaw-dropping, shocking and hysterical (Adults Only) parodies of tracks by today's hottest pop stars like
Katy Perry, Ke$ha and Taio Cruz to Britney and Whitney! Yay! She also pays homage to the Great White Way with a Chicago parody entitled All That Jizz.
Bunny, whose national recognition has soared not only due to her recent television engagements, but also due to her headlining at gay pride events and clubs nationwide, will gnaw on the Big Apple with holiday numbers guaranteed to horrify religious relatives. Top it all off with her zany Laugh-In style routines for added politically incorrect fun and you'll see that while she may give Lady Lessons as the Dean Of Drag on RuPaul's DRAG U, her own bawdy act is far from ladylike.
The wacky blonde will also re-create some of her trash-tastic hit YouTube videos, including her rap debut with a parody of Like A G6--the ode to uncircumcised men entitled Like A Cheese Stick, which was featured on
Perez Hilton and Dlisted. Finally, a tribute to recently departed musical giant
Amy Winehouse and Bunny as the monstrous "Scare" in a wicked spoof of Cher in BURLESQUE.
No lengthy monologues. No sappy show tunes. THAT AIN'T NO LADY! is a cabaret show designed for the night club crowd - mature audiences who enjoy irreverent humor! Witness the authentic glamour, glitzy costumes and Bunny's trademark gravity-defying bouffant wig!
After the show, boogie to soulful, vocal house music featuring dance classics from Deee-Lite,
Crystal Waters,
Whitney Houston and absolutely no Rihanna, Ke$ha, Gaga,
Katy Perry or Britney. For 1 hour after the show, 2-4-1 drinks will be offered.
The production also reintroduces La Escuilita as a quintessential NYC venue providing a visually stunning, safe environment with a
Modern Stage, sleek and comfortable 250 seat theatre space and an incredibly good looking (shirtless) bar staff.
Sound and Lighting Design is by Ian Fford, additional lighting and spotlight is by Johnathan Cedano and Louie Garay is the House Manager.
Performances of THAT AIN'T NO LADY! Are on every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m.
Tickets to THAT AIN'T NO LADY! are $14.98 and can be ordered online at
http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/198296. Since Bunny's singing has been known to drive audiences to drink, there is a one-drink minimum.
NOTE: Online ticket sales end 2 hours before showtime - (6PM). No credit cards are accepted at the door-- Cash payments for admission only. Credit cards are accepted for drink purchases.
Best known for founding the outdoor drag festival Wigstock,
Lady Bunny has moved onto film (Wigstock: The Movie, To
Wong Foo, Another Gay Sequel) TV (Sex and The City, The Comedy Central Roast of
Pamela Anderson and Rupaul's Drag U.) In print, Bunny contributes to Star magazine's popular Worst Of The Week column every week and in 2010 was selected by V magazine, along with Marc Jacobs and
Lady Gaga, as one of NYC's most notable residents. Bunny tours constantly with her bawdy night club act at clubs and gay pride events and somehow finds time to dj as well at private bashes for celebrities (Iman,
Naomi Campbell,
Kelly Ripa) as well as annual events like the Empire State Pride Agenda's Hamptons fundraiser and clubs. With her oversized bouffant hairdos, Bunny is hard to miss--as
Lady Gaga found at her
Madison Square Garden concert as the pop diva gave the drag diva a shout-out on her Monster Ball HBO special.
