LA MAMA presents COFFEEHOUSE CHRONICLES #134 "GABRIEL BERRY" - Saturday, APRIL 23, 2016 at 3:00pm - 5:00pm?-- Located at, La MaMa, Downstairs (66 East 4th Street, NYC). GABRIEL BERRY, a World Renowned Costume Designer returns to La Mama for this one-night engagement to discuss her work and her collaboration with John Albano, Christopher Alden, Ken Bernard, Ed Bullins, Du-Yee Chang, Donald Eastman and La Mama. The event, hosted by Gabriel, features an introduction by Taylor Mac, discussion with guests Michael Arian, Donald Eastman, Augusto Machado, Lola Pashalinski, Paul Steinberg, Ching Valdez-Aran, archival materials, and a live performance by Black-Eyed Susan.
COFFEEHOUSE CHRONICLES - is an educational performance series exploring the history and development of Off-Off Broadway; part artist portrait, part creative event, part history lesson, and part community forum; the Series features Direction by Michal Gamily and Educational Outreach by Arthur Adair.

GABRIEL BERRY (Costume Designer). Gabriel Berry designs costumes for theatre, dance and opera. Specializing in the creation of new work, she has designed premieres of the works of artists including John Adams, Samuel Beckett, Charles Ludlam, Caryl Churchill, Lucinda Childs, Christopher Durang, Ethyl Eichelberger, Richard Foreman, The Five Lesbian Brothers, Mari?a Irene Forne?s, John Guare, Lameece Isaaq, Nick Jones, Craig Lucas, Mabou Mines, Naomi Wallace, Kia Corthran, Will Power, Marcus Gardley, Scott Z. Burns, Meredith Monk, Chuck Mee, Tony Kushner, Peter Sellars, Phillip Glass, Harold Pinter, Reinaldo Povod, Tennessee Williams and Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. Notable honors include Obie, Bessie and Lucille Lortel awards and a silver medal from the Prague Quadrennial for her contribution to experimental theatre. Upcoming projects include Hir by Taylor Mac for Playwrights Horizons and Stew and Heidi Rodewald's The Total Bent for The Public Theater.
