A legendary performance of Puccini's La Boheme, starring opera luminaries Renata Scotto as Mime and Luciano Pavarotti as Rodolfo, will be broadcast in an encore presentation over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network at 1:30PM EST on January 19, as a tribute to the life of the late tenor.

Originally broadcast March 19, 1977, this performance was recorded four days after the historic first Live from the Met telecast of La Boheme, and featured a young James Levine at the podium.  This special archival broadcast of La Boheme has not been heard anywhere since it originally aired in 1977 and features Pavarotti in his only radio broadcast performance of La Boheme at the Met.

Pavarotti: In His Own Words, a special two part feature, will be heard during the intermissions.  The broadcast audience will be treated to the story of the great artist's career through the many interviews he gave while at the Met.

The cast for this celebrated performance also included Maralin Niska as Musetta, Ingvar Wixell as Marcello, Allan Monk as Schaunard, Paul Plishka as Colline, Italo Tajo as Benoit, and Andrea Velis as Alcindoro.

For more than seven decades, the Metropolitan Opera Radio Broadcasts have brought opera into millions of homes and enriched the lives of many, playing a vital and unparalleled role in the development and appreciation of opera in this country.
