LUCKY GUY Will Be Published, Licensed by Dramatists Play Service

Dramatists Play Service will publish and license the acting edition of Nora Ephron's Lucky Guy, which has been nominated for six Tony Awards including Best Play. Founded in 1936 by the Dramatists Guild of America and the Society for Authors' Representatives, Dramatists Play Service publishes and licenses productions of plays in the United States, Canada and throughout the world. The company has published 18 of the last 25 Tony Award-winners for Best Play, including M. Butterfly, The Heidi Chronicles, The Grapes of Wrath, Dancing at Lughnasa, Love! Valour! Compassion!, Master Class, The Last Night of Ballyhoo, Art, Side Man, Proof, The Goat, or Who is Sylvia, Take Me Out, I Am My Own Wife, Doubt, August: Osage County, God of Carnage, Red and Clybourne Park.

LUCKY GUY has been nominated for six Tony Awards, including Best Play, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play (Tom Hanks), Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play (Courtney B. Vance), Best Direction of a Play (George C. Wolfe), Best Scenic Design of a Play (David Rockwell) and Best Lighting Design of a Play (Jules Fisher & Peggy Eisenhauer).

LUCKY GUY is directed by two-time Tony Award-winner George C. Wolfe. The production opened April 1, 2013 at the Broadhurst Theatre (235 West 44th Street). The limited engagement was recently extended for 16 additional performances through July 3, 2013.

Nora Ephron began her professional career as a reporter at The New York Post in 1962 and Lucky Guy marks a return to her journalistic roots. Her new play is about the scandal- and graffiti-ridden New York of the 1980s, as told through the story of the charismatic and controversial tabloid columnist Mike McAlary (Tom Hanks). Lucky Guy is the third collaboration between Tom Hanks and Nora Ephron, following the films Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail.

From his sensational reporting of New York's major police corruption to the libel suit that nearly ended his career, Lucky Guy dramatizes the story of McAlary's meteoric rise, fall and rise again.

The production also stars Maura Tierney (Alice McAlary), Christopher McDonald (Eddie Hayes), Peter Gerety (John Cotter); Courtney B. Vance (Hap Hairston); Peter Scolari (Michael Daly) and Richard Masur (Jerry Nachman/Stanley Joyce); with Brian Dykstra (Brian O'Regan);Michael Gaston (Jim Dwyer); Dustyn Gulledge (Dino Tortorici); Andrew Hovelson (Reporter); Deirdre Lovejoy (Louise Imerman/Debby Krenek); Danny Mastrogiorgio (Bob Drury/John Miller) and Stephen Tyrone Williams (Abner Louima). The production also features Paula Jon De Rose, Joe Forbrich, Thomas Michael Hammond and Marc Damon Johnson.

In addition to Tony nominees David Rockwell (scenic design) and Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer (Lighting Design), the design team includes costume design by Toni-Leslie James, and sound design by Scott Lehrer. Projection design is by batwin + robin productions. Casting is by Jordan Thaler/Heidi Griffiths. Technical supervisor is Peter Fulbright. Production stage manager is Jane Grey.
