Dixon Place presents the new devised play Love Magic Ritual Spell on its main stage for one night only, on Wednesday February 14th at 7:30pm. Love and desire, magic and myth, and femme power make for bewitching theatre this Valentine's Day: director Alex Randrup leads an ensemble of ten femme-identified artists on a mission to howl subvert the male gaze, manifest true love, and conjure more Hot Cheetos, all in just 45 minutes. To sweeten the night, the Dixon Place Lounge is open before and after the show, and you can bring your drink into the theater. Wine, entertainment, romance and a few spells: Love Magic Ritual Spell is an all-inclusive Valentine's package.
Director Alex Randrup (Sisters Mine, JACK) reunites to devise this new play with sound designer Emily Auciello (Another F-ing Warhol Production, The Kitchen) and actors Samantha Clark (Pigeon Spikes, Dixon Place) and Bonita Jackson (Rachel, Irondale Center). They devised A History of Nasty Women (HERE Arts Center as part of SANCTUARY and Cloud City as part of Barn Arts Collective's BarnFest) in 2017. Lighting designer Kailey B Hays-Lenihan (The Humanist Project's Titus Andronicus) and actors Courtney Williams (Tania in the Getaway Van, The Flea/The Pool), Nicole Orabona (Curiosities, The Menagerie), Andrea Negrete (Pomegrenade, IRT Theater), Tina Canady (Still Rising, The Tank), and Lauren Winnenberg (Dystress, Kimmel Window Galleries) round out the ensemble.
