LML Music Presents Stacy Sullivan Album Release at Carnegie Hall Image

LML Music will present acclaimed cabaret and recording artist Stacy Sullivan in a one night only concert celebrating the release of her new album entitled Tornado Alley, at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall on Thursday January 24, 2019 at 8:00PM.

Tornado Alley is Sullivan's most personal musical offering, a meteorologically themed family history spanning several decades. Based on her critically acclaimed one-woman show, "Since You've Asked," The New York Times in April 2015 described it as "Thrilling," "Audacious," and "Stretching cabaret into previously unexplored territory."

Selections include works by Johnny Mercer, Randy Newman, Harold Arlen, Ray Lamontagne, Hoagy Carmichael, Judy Collins, Ed SHeeran, Woody Guthrie, Stevie Nicks, Cole Porter, Noël Coward, David Hajdu, Renee Rosnes, and Fred Hersch and more. The evening features arrangements from producer and arranger, Troy Fannin, with direction from Savannah Brown. Sullivan is joined on stage by Fannin (Guitar), Matthew Watanabe (Piano), Jamie Mohamdein (Bass), Bobbie Crowe III (Cello), and Gökçe Erem (Violin).

"A musician with extensive formal training, Sullivan has all-American sensibility with roots in country, gospel, classical music, rock, and jazz. 'Tornado Alley' doesn't play favorites among Sullivan's influences. The gorgeous arrangements by the producer and guitarist Troy Fannin exemplify a semi-classical style that for

the lack of a better word might be described as 'chamber pop:' music with classical leanings not driven by drums. The ensemble of violin, cello, bass, piano and guitar weaves sophisticated textures around Sullivan's singing, treating each song as its own musical world." Stephen Holden, Author and former critic for The New York Times

Sullivan is the recipient of numerous MAC awards since 2002, as well as the New York Nightlife and Broadway World Awards for Outstanding Artist, The Bistro Award for Outstanding Female Vocalist, and The Lamott Friedman Award for "Best Recording" for "It's a Good Day-A Tribute to Miss Peggy Lee." She has appeared in concert in venues across the world including Café Carlyle, 54 Below, Birdland and Jazz at Lincoln Center to London's Crazy Coqs Brasserie Zedel, as well as The Ford Theatre and the Carpenter Center in Southern California, with the Pasadena Pops, the Knoxville Symphony with KT Sullivan, and "Lyrics and Lyricists" at the 92nd Street Y with Andrea Marcovicci.

Her recordings include six albums on the LML Music label including It's a Good Day - A Tribute to Miss Peggy Lee, featuring Jon Weber, Steve Doyle, and Bucky Pizzarelli. In 2016, Sullivan released Stranger in a Dream (Harbinger Records), an homage to jazz tastemaker, Marian McPartland, beloved host of NPR's Piano Jazz for 33 years. All 17 selections on Stranger in a Dream were performed by McPartland or her guests during the show's legendary run. Sullivan's show about McPartland, On the Air, preceded the recording and was presented by legendary radio personality Jonathan Schwartz at WNYC's "The Greene Space." Following that, On the Air ran at The York Theatre, and the recording followed. Sullivan's music is regularly featured on The Jonathon Channel, and Sirius/XM Radio's Siriusly Sinatra.

Sullivan's theatrical performances include Christine in the Yeston/Kopit "Phantom" (Los Angeles Premiere,) Rosabud in "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" (West Coast Premiere), and Toby Bluth's "Babes in Toyland" (World Premiere).

Weil Recital Hall is located at 881 7th Ave, 57th Street and Seventh Avenue. The Weil Recital Hall entrance is near 154 West 57th Street. Ticket prices range from $25-$75 and may be purchased on the Carnegie Hall Website. Weil Recital Hall is wheelchair accessible.
