LENNY BRUCE IS NOT AFRAID Debuts at Frigid Festival Image

From the award winning theatre company, HUB Theatricals, comes their newest and boldest production, "Lenny Bruce is Not Afraid" by Mark Levy this runs from February 16th-March 2nd at Under St Marks. Featuring Kayla Mason and Mark Levy. Directed by Kristen Keim. Designed by Adam Sherwin.

Set a month after humanity as basically ended, this immersive dark romantic comedy, follows the last 2 people alive in New York City (played by Kayla Mason and Mark Levy) as the enjoy a crazy drunk first date. The rules of dating are out the window and anything can happen as society is gone. What will happen when they return to his place? Really only one way to find out.

Conceived and workshopped starting early 2016 because of Trump anxiety, award winning playwright Mark Levy spent months using his comedy and writing skills to make this play be both terrifying and hilarious at the same time. "When characters are sad and lonely, anything can happen", Levy says "Put them in a room, and see if they find love or try to kill each other, no matter what humanity is up to them to save"

Like most of Levy's work, this play features a strong female performance and a female director. "As a writer, if I can, I like have women direct my plays because they can provide a different experience to this than I ever could"

This is HUB Theatricals second play in the NY Frigid Festival ("All is Fine in Sunny Florida!" 2016) and 2017 marked a banner year for the company as their play "...waiting" by Mark Levy won several awards at the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity including Best Overall evening of One Acts"

The company is thrilled to open on Friday, February 16th at 8:50pm at Under St. Marks (94 St Marks Place, NY New York 10009) and continues Tuesday, February 20th at 5:30pm Wednesday February 21st at 10:30pm, Sunday, February 25th at 5:10pm, and concludes on Friday, March 2nd at 10:30pm
