Leg Up On Life: Showcase! benefiting The Trevor Project is hosted by Daniel Gold who wanted to create a platform for choreographers of all dance styles to get their works out to the public while raising money for a phenomenal organization. Showcase! is taking place Monday, August 28th, 2017 at Dixon Place. Performances will take place 4pm and 8pm doors opening a half hour prior.
Choreographers for Leg Up On Life: Showcase! benefiting The Trevor Project include the works of 15 choreographers: Stephanie Bissonnette (upcoming: Mean Girls), Diana Brooks, Victoria Casillo, Veronica Cheeseboro, Patricia Crumrine, Ashlé Dawson (So You Think You Can Dance, director of Latin Fusion Dance Project & Breaking Conformity Productions, Inc. founder), Cooper Flanagan (Michael C. Perry's The Carnival Kid), Karla Garcia (Hamilton, So You Think You Can Dance), Daniel Gold (Beauty and the Beast Nat'l Tour), Angélique Kaba (performed for Rihanna & Kaye Styles) Vivake Khamsingsavath (Lincoln Center & Broadway at Bryant Park) , Karen Ng (Triple8Funk company founder), Kristen Brooks Sandler (Joseph....Dreamcoat & Elf Nat'l Tours), Brad Trump (CATS Nat'l tour), and Chaz Wolcott (CATS Nat'l Tour & Newsies Nat'l Tour and film).
These pieces will be performed by dancers from all over the tri-state area. Dixon Place, an incubator for performing and literary artists since 1986, is a non-profit organization committed to supporting the creative process by presenting original works of dance, theater, music, puppetry, literature, performance and visual art at all stages of development. Presenting over 700 artists each year, this local haven inspires and encourages diverse artists of all stripes and callings to take risks and push personal and professional limits. Dixon Place's foremost priorities are to serve as a safety net for artists, and to provide vivid experiences for audiences. Dixon Place is the only non-profit theatre of its size to own and operate a full service cocktail lounge where all profits are returned to the organization to support their artists and mission. The full service cocktail lounge is open to the public from 6PM to closing with all profits supporting the Dixon Place artists and mission.
