Actress Callie Hernandez has been selected to star in a new musical drama pilot from former Smash-showrunner, Josh Safran.
The pilot, written by Safran, is described by THR as, "a romantic musical drama that looks at a disparate group of interconnected people in contemporary Los Angeles through the lens of the music that defines who they are. Mixtape captures the different stages of love, exploring if time can heal a broken heart and if love can withstand life's tragedies."
Hernandez is slated to star as Nellie, an administrator at an arts college attempting to recapture her own artistic dreams.
Hernandez is best know for her role on two seasons of the EPIX comedy Graves. She has appeared on film in Alien: Covenant, La La Land and Blair Witch, among other projects. Hernandez is also currently slated to appear in the Amazon drama Too Old to Die Young.
The show is being produced by Annapurna Television and 20th Century FOX Television.
