In a recent interview with The New York Times, Kyra Sedgwick, who plays Branda Leigh Johnson on "The Closer," revealed that she her dream is to star in a Broadway musical.

When asked if she has found it difficult to pursue her other interests due to her devotion to "The Closer," Sedgwick said, "I've been able to do the moviemaking, though not quite as often. But I miss the theater. I have a dream to be in a musical one day. I've been working with a singing teacher for when it comes along, if it comes along. I had in mind "Guys and Dolls," but they just did a revival of it, so maybe something new. I love Sondheim, though I'm not sure I'd be right for it."

During the interview, Sedgwick also said that performing Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" on Broadway was the most fulfilling creative experience she's had.

In August, Sedgwick won the Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a drama series. Sedgwick told The New York Times of the honor, "It was amazing. It was a total shock. Who wins in Year 5? I'm sure they do, but I thought I would forever be nominated and never win, which would be fine. I started thinking, "Martin Sheen never won for ‘The West Wing.' " It feels really good, but does it make a difference in how I conduct my life every day? No."
