Veil'd A Fairytale will be performed in the Performance Space at Rathaus Hall M-11 at Queens College on Saturday, May 12th at 8:00 pm and Sunday, May 13th at 3pm. The event is free and open to the public. Reservations can be made by calling the Kupferberg Center Box Office at 718.793.8080.

Veil'd A Fairytale is the story of Dima a 16 year-old whose best friend is a talking shark named Speedo that she keeps hidden in her bedroom. Dima is an outcast with a rare skin condition that causes her to hide behind her mother's old burqa. That is until she begins a secret friendship with her "Prince Charming" - a streetwise, hipster poet-boy named Elliot who throws poems through her window.

Nicole A. Watson directs this workshop production as part of Rising Circle Theater Collective's The Refinery, a co-presentation with the Kupferberg Center for the Arts. Veil'd stars Lipica Shah, Farah Bala, Alok Tewari and Todd Bartels. Costumes are designed by Sarita Fellows.

Monet Hurst-Mendoza is an NYC-based playwright and director from Los Angeles, CA. Her plays include The Annex (Bare Bones Ensemble, 2010 Work(s) In Progress Festival), In The Waiting Line, Shangri-L.A., Lilia, Jane?s Room (Looking Glass Theatre, 2010 Spring Writer/Director Forum), and Veil'd, (Rising Circle Theater Collective, INKtank/PlayRISE Festival 2010, 2012 REFINERY Series in conjunction with Queens College; |the claque| 2011 QuaDs Series).
