May 2nd marks the launch of Monday Night Lights, the Knitting Factory's new monthly residency series showcasing original musicians and talented artists. The night is FREE and ALL AGES and features a new "buzz" band headlining every Monday of the month, with their choice of special guests each week. In addition, local artists, writers, poets, and other creatives will be invited to
participate. The goal is not for these nights to be "shows" - they are unique month-long community events, with DJs, artist and photographer installations, Livetapp giveaways, and
streaming live for the world to see.

Kicking off Monday Night Lights is Sherlock's Daughter, a group of four friends from Sydney that
weaves lush dream pop by balancing folk flourishes and tribal rhythms with a myriad of
influences and manages to invoke both the ethereal and psychedelic. In 2008, a revelation for
frontwoman Tanya Horo inspired her to recruit her closest friends in a mystic musical journey of
their own, with Timothy Maybury on guitars and backing vocals, Graeme Pillemer on bass,
William Russell on drums and percussion, and the captivating, siren-like vocals of multiinstrumentalist Horo.

Having established a following built around their impressive live show, Sherlock's Daughter
quickly found themselves sharing the stage with the Temper Trap, School of Seven Bells,
Freelance Whales, Metric and Warpaint, to name a few. Hype in the US led the band to work
with famed Sonic Youth producer John Agnello on their debut album that is looking for a release
later this year. For now, catch Sherlock's Daughter at the Knit, where their May residency
heralds the release of the band's self-titled EP.
