Knitting Factory Entertainment PROGRAMMING CONTINUES AT OHM

NEXT ANNOUNCED PERFORMANCE: DJ SPOOKY ON FRIDAY, APRIL 30TH

Knitting Factory Entertainment is proud to announce the second show at OHM, a West Chelsea rental tower that has been presenting intimate, private shows in its lobby/performance space. The show will star DJ Spooky, who will be doing a special performance based on his score of the silent film Kino Glaz (Cinema Eye). Released as a DVD companion-piece to his latest CD, The Secret Song, the DVD features the rare 1924 film from the Russian Revolution by the renowned Russian director Dziga Vertov as scored by Spooky.

DJ Spooky (Paul D Miller, born 1970, Washington DC) is a composer, multimedia artist and writer. His deep interest in reggae and dub has resulted in a series of compilations, remixes and collections of material from the vaults of the legendary Jamaican label, Trojan Records. Other releases include Optometry (2002), a jazz project featuring some of the best players in the downtown NYC jazz scene, and Dubtometry (2003) featuring Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Mad Professor. Miller's latest collaborative release, Drums of Death, features Dave Lombardo of Slayer and Chuck D of Public Enemy among others. He also produced material on Yoko Ono's recent album Yes, I'm a Witch. Miller's large scale, multimedia performance pieces include Rebirth of a Nation (now on DVD), and Terra Nova: Sinfonia Antarctica.

OHM is a 37-story rental tower located at 312 11th Avenue in the West Chelsea district. There is over 25,000 square feet of amenity space in the tower, including the lobby which holds an intimate performance space. Knitting Factory Entertainment will be exclusively bringing live entertainment to this space. Performances in the OHM space will be presented for OHM residents and their guests only-tickets will not be available to the general public. The concept is to create an extremely intimate environment where artists can connect with a built-in crowd eager to participate in a unique experience.
