Ovation, America's only arts network, will present the world television premiere of Kevin Spacey's acclaimed documentary film NOW: In the Wings on a World Stage on Sunday, November 9 at 8 PM ET. Chronicling the ambitious global tour of Kevin Spacey and Sam Mendes' production of "Richard III," NOW takes viewers on the road and backstage as the newly formed Bridge Project Company faces the challenges and triumphs that come with performing in a new country and venue every few weeks.
The production of "Richard III" marks the first collaboration between
Kevin Spacey and
Sam Mendes since both won Academy Awards® for their work on American Beauty. NOW provides an intimate look at that production, from how the company was formed, to the relationships between the actors, to the many different cultures and countries they experienced along the way. The production traveled from London to Doha, Epidaurus, Istanbul, Singapore, Sydney, Naples, San Francisco, Beijing, Hong Kong and ultimately arrived in New York City.
"If you've never seen
Kevin Spacey onstage, the premiere of NOW on Ovation is a fantastic way to experience his immersive and captivating interpretation of the tyrannical Richard III," said
Scott Woodward, SVP, Programming and Production, Ovation. "But this film does more than showcase Spacey's extraordinary talents. It provides real insight into the art of stage acting and the creative, emotional and physical challenges of performing demanding roles night after night, in city after city."
NOW: In the Wings on a World Stage was directed by Jeremy Whelehan and had a limited theatrical release in the US last May. Ovation will present the film's television debut Sunday, November 9 at 8PM ET.
