According to The New York Times, actor and theater producer Kevin Spacey has announced plans to create a theater arts academy in the Middle East. Spacey held a news conference on Sunday in Dubai. On Monday, he hosted the Laureus sports awards in Abu Dhabi.
"Spacey said that the Middle East Theater Academy would be a joint project of the Kevin Spacey Foundation and Badr Jafar, executive director of Crescent Petroleum and chief executive officer of Crescent Investments," according to the Times. The academy will have no permanent location, but will travel across the area to teach theater to those in the Middle East. The hope is to offer opportunities for Middle Eastern projects to make their way to Broadway and other places throughout the world. Spacey is currently the artistic director of the Old Vic theater in London. For the original article, click here.
