The Tribeca Performing Arts Center at B.M.C.C (Tribeca PAC) and Executive Director Linda Herring have announced the upcoming Tribeca Cabaret featuring singer, songwriter and guitarist Kenny Rankin on Thursday, May 18th at 7 pm and Friday, May 19th at 8 pm.
"In a remarkable recording career that spans over three decades, Rankin has established an impressive set of creative credentials, as a songwriter, guitarist and, above all, a world-class singer possessing an uncanny ability to cut straight to a song's emotional heart," state press notes. In the 60's, Rankin played guitar on Bob Dylan's landmark album "Bringing It All Back Home." Soon after, he performed on "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson more than 20 times; and wrote hits such as "In the Name of Love", recorded by Peggy Lee and "Haven't We Met", recorded by both Carmen McRae and Mel Torme. In recent years, he has concentrated on live performances of pop and jazz standards to sold-out audiences, including Wolf Trap in Virginia and the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas.
