Kenneth Branagh has confirmed that plans for a collaboration with Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese on a new film version of MACBETH are moving forward and reveals that a revival of the production is also a possibility.
The new big screen adaptation will be based on Branagh's critically acclaimed production which was performed at the 2013 Manchester International Festival.
In an interview with BBC Radio's Kermode and Mayo's Film Review, Branagh shared, "We will remount the production and all things being well Mr Scorcese will direct a film version of that production." He continued,
"Fingers are hovering above pieces of paper. Everybody wants to do it, it's just a question of schedules. I'm very very hopeful it's going to happen."
The project will mark THE FIRST TIME that legendary director Scorcese has adapted a Shakespearen work for the big screen. Branagh, who most recently helmed Disney's live action version of "Cinderella", has directed movie versions of Shakespeare's Hamlet and Henry V.
