Casting has been announced for the Musicals Tonight! concert production of the 1957 musical Shinbone Alley.  The musical will be presented from November 7th through 19th at the McGinn/Cazale Theatre.

Directed by Thomas Mills and with musical direction by Rick Hip-Flores, the show will star

Trent Armand Kendall (Into the Woods) as tom cat Big Bill, Allyson Tucker (Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life, Man of La Mancha) as alley cat Mehitabel, and Lee Zarrett (Spelling Bee, Jane Eyre) as Archy, as well as Kim Brownell, Thursday Farrar, Elena Gutierrez, Gene Jones, Erik McEwen, Lisa Marie Morabito, Val Moranto, Leajato Amara Robinson, Kwame Michael Remy, and Justin Sayre.

The musical concerns the denizens of the titular alley--including cockroach Archy, who tells their stories by jumping up and down on the keys of his typewriter.  Shinbone Alley starred Eartha Kitt, Eddie Bracken, and George S. Irving (with Chita Rivera as one of the show's standbys) when it premiered on Broadway in 1957.  The show features music by George Kleinsinger, lyrics by Joe Darion and a book by Mel Brooks and Darion.

Shinbone Alley is based on the archy and mehitabel newspaper columns by Don Marquis.
