Ken Urban's NIBBLER, Directed by Stephen Brackett Begins Performances on 11/15

Stable Cable Lab Co. has announced the cast and creative team for the workshop production of Nibbler, a play by Ken Urban, directed by Stephen Brackett. Nibblerwill begin invited presentations on Friday, November 15, 2013 at Theatre 54 at Shetler Studios (244 W. 54th St - between Broadway & 8th Ave.) and is scheduled to run through November 23rd, 2013. The results of the workshop production - including the actors' experience with the work, the aesthetics of the director and designers, and the audience's feedback - will be invaluable to the development of this play and talkbacks will follow several performances to discuss the work.

Nibbler takes place in the summer of 1992 in Medford, New Jersey. Adam and his gang of friends face life after high school. Matt and Hayley are sweethearts that harbor secrets. Tara is hoping she can ditch state school for an Ivy education, and Pete needs to face his not-so-secret desires. But when the fivesome encounter a mysterious visitor from another world, their lives are forever changed. A dark comedy about that time when everything and nothing seems possible.

The cast features Lisa Jill Anderson, Brian Edelman, Chelsea Gonzalez, Cory Kosel, Jon Mulhearn, & Sidney Williams.

The scenic design for the workshop of Nibbler is by Doss Freel; puppet design is by James Ortiz; sound design is by Christian Fredrickson; property design is by Dennis O'Leary-Gullo; costume consulting is by Johanna Pan. The production manager is Sarah Jane Schostack; the production stage manager is Cody Smith; the assistant production stage manager is Arthur Kriklivy.

The performance schedule is: Friday, November 15 at 8pm; Saturday, November 16 at 2pm & 8pm; Sunday, November 17 at 8pm; Wednesday, November 20 at 8pm; Thursday, November 21 at 8m; Friday, November 22 at 8pm; and Saturday, November 23 at 8pm. Ken Urban (Playwright) is a playwright and screenwriter based in New York. His plays have been produced and developed at Summer Play Festival @ The Public, Donmar Warehouse (London), TimeLine Theatre Company, Studio 42, Williamstown Theatre Festival, Playwrights Horizons, Irish Rep, Primary Stages, and The Huntington. Ken will have two new plays produced during the 2013-14 season. The Awake opened at 59E59 Theatres in August, starring Maulik Pancholy from Weedsand 30 Rock, where it played for a sold-out run. The Correspondent opens at the Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre in February, directed by Stephen Brackett. His new plays Nibbler, Wasps, and A Future Perfect are in development in theaters in New York and Boston. Simple, a site-specific play commissioned by Rising Phoenix Rep, will open in late spring, in a production directed by Rising Phoenix Rep's artistic director Daniel Talbott. Awards include the Weissberger Playwriting Award, Huntington Theater Playwriting Fellowship, Djerassi Artist Residency, Dramatist Guild Fellowship, and MacDowell Colony Fellowships. The feature film adaptation of his play The Happy Sad, with a screenplay by the author, directed by Rodney Evans, opened in Los Angeles and New York in August, and was also screened at over fifteen festivals internationally. Stephen Brackett (Director) recently directed the world premier of Jonathan Tolins' Buyer & Cellarstarring Michael Urie (Barrow Street and Rattlestick Theaters). Other NY credits include Chad Beckim's After with Partial Comfort Productions, Micheline Auger's American River with Lesser America, Dan Fishback's The Material World at Dixon Place (Top 10 of 2012 Time Out NY), Anton Dudley's The Empty Ocean with The Harold Clurman Lab, and Bekah Brunstetter's Be A Good Little Widow at Ars Nova. Stable Cable Lab Co. In 2012 and 2013, Stable Cable Lab Co. participated in The Field Artist Residency program, supported by the Lambent Foundation. Stable Cable is dedicating its 2013-2014 Season to the Memory of Vid Hurlock.
