Stage and screen star Kelsey Grammer recently discussed his career and how he made it to the Broadway stage. Grammer discussed his choice to leave the hit television show "Fraiser" to bring Macbeth to the Broadway stage, where he famously fell flat with audiences and critics.
When asked why he chose to leave a cushy $700,000 an episode job as Fraiser Crane, Grammer said he always hoped to succeed in the theatre. "To tell you the truth, that was the only real dream I ever had growing up. Movies? Television? They never crossed my radar."
Of performing on LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, Grammer says he is fulfilling a lifelong dream. "On opening night, during the curtain call, I hugged (composer) Jerry Herman and told him that his Hello, Dolly! was the first show I saw on Broadway when I was 8 years old. Is it any wonder this is an experience that has been beyond my wildest dreams?"
