Kelli O'Hara, who won critical acclaim for her performance as Nellie Forbush in Lincoln Center Theater's production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC will return to the production on Tuesday, August 10 and perform the role through Sunday, August 22 when the musical plays the final performance of its record-breaking run at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. On Wednesday, August 18, the Tony Award winning production, directed by Bartlett Sher, will be broadcast nationally at 8pm on PBS' "Live From Lincoln Center."
Rodgers & Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC currently stars Laura Osnes as Nellie Forbush and William Michals as Emile deBecque, while that role's originator, Tony Award winner Paulo Szot, fulfills an opera commitment in Spain. Mr. Szot returns to the production beginning Tuesday, July 6.
Directed by Barlett Sher, Rodgers & Hammerstein's SOUTH PACIFIC, which also stars Laura Osnes as Ensign Nellie Forbush, swept the 2008-2009 theatre awards winning 7 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival as well as the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Drama League Award for Best Musical Revival.
