The Board of Directors for kef theatrical productions is thrilled to announce the naming of Ben Bartolone as the new Artistic Director of the company, effective immediately.
A statement from outgoing Artistic Director and Co-Founder Adam Fitzgerald:
"It is with many emotions that I announce my departure from kef, but the time has come for me to move on. The first show we did under the kef name, long before we were a legal entity, was in the spring of 2002. Sixteen years and countless readings, workshops, festivals, and productions later, having worked with dozens of beautifully talented artists and in venues across the city and the country, I am so proud of the work we have done. From themes of equal pay to equal rights, tackling genocide, racism, torture, homophobia, love, hate, and countless other issues, kef's theatrical endeavors have started so many conversations over the years. Ben Bartolone's desire to keep America talking through theatre makes him the perfect person to take the reins and take kef into its next chapter. I have nothing but faith that Ben will move kef to new, exciting, and necessary artistic realms and, like a proud parent, I will be watching with joy and love to see what is accomplished next."
And from Ben Bartonlone, current Artistic Director:
"I'm incredibly grateful to kef's Board of Directors, and to outgoing Artistic Director Adam Fitzgerald, for giving me this chance to lead kef theatrical productions into the coming years, while honoring the accomplishments of this incredible company thus far. We are continuously driven to present socially-conscious theater, and produce relevant new work that speaks to our modern world."
The change in leadership was confirmed by unanimously by the Board of Directors. Mr. Fitzgerald will remain with kef in an advisory capacity for the 2018-19 Season of kef's new work program, The Bluestone Project. For more information on the upcoming season, visit www.kefproductions.com.
