Kathy Griffin Heading to ABC's THE VIEW as Co-Host?

According to the New York Daily News, Kathy Griffin, who recently announced her hasty departure as host of E!'s Fashion Police, may be heading to a full time position on ABC's THE VIEW.

The comic appeared on the daytime talk show last Monday to discuss her decision to leave the E! show following controversial statements by her co-host Giuliana Rancic and reportedly made a "big impression" on the show's producers. "She was great and has Whoopi (Goldberg)' s backing. Whoopi loves Kathy," says the Daily New's insider at THE TALK show. " 'The View' would be a perfect fit if Kathy wanted to fly to New York weekly. It's a Monday-through-Thursday job and she can tour on the weekends, the best two nights to sell tickets."

Another insider revealed to the Daily News that Griffin, who was banned from "Live with Kelly and Michael," after she insulted executive producer Michael Gelman, is "a great friend of the [View]. Her name has been tossed around, yes," said the source. "She's opinionated in a smart way and not argumentative for the sake of it."

After Griffin's appearance last week, VIEW co-host Whoopi Goldberg tweeted: "Bravo @kathygriffin! You have to try it to know if you like it. You did and it wasn't for you. And now, now a new change is going to come."

E! recently announced that FASHION POLICE will go on hiatus, returning this September. "We look forward to taking this opportunity to refresh the show before the next awards season," said the network's statement. "Our talented co-hosts Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski, along with executive producer Melissa Rivers, will continue their roles as we evolve the show into its next chapter for the legions of 'Fashion Police' fans around the world."

A rep for "The View" did not respond to a request for comment on the report.
