Kathy Bates will cover Courtney Love!

Jessica Lange took on the evocative Kurt Weill/Maxwell Anderson ballad "September Song" from KNICKERBOCKER HOLIDAY on last week's episode of FX's hit anthology series AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW and fellow stage and screen star Kathy Bates is set to cover an even more modern classic on an upcoming episode according to a new report, namely the Courtney Love-penned Hole rocker "Doll Parts".

Creator Ryan Murphy explained the choice of songs for this season, saying, "We decided we only were going to highlight musical artists who at some point in their career had identified themselves as feeling like freaks or MISFITS or outcasts, which our people are going through."

Earlier this season, Jessica Lange treated viewers to a spectacularly theatrical cover of David Bowie's classic song "Life On Mars?" on the premiere episode of FX series, followed up with a recent performance of Lana Del Rey's "Gods & Monsters" and the aforementioned "September Song", and co-star Sarah Paulson was showcased an impressive self duet set to Fiona Apple's "Criminal", as well.

Also, Evan Peters is set to sing Nirvana's "Come As You Are" on tonight's entry of the series.

Of note, in addition to the David Bowie, Fiona Apple, Lana Del Rey and Kurt Weill performances, other announced upcoming cover songs on the series include those by Nirvana and the Rolling Stones.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW stars Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Denis O'Hare, Angela Bassett, Emma Roberts, Frances Conroy, Gabourey Sidibe, Evan Peters and Jaimie Brewer, with new cast members Michael Chiklis, Wes Bentley, Finn Wittrock and Patti LaBelle joining the ranks for the new season.

The official description of AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW is as follows: "American Horror Story: Freak Show begins its tale in the quiet, sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida. The year is 1952. A troupe of curiosities has just arrived to town, coinciding with the strange emergence of a dark entity that savagely threatens the lives of townsfolk and freaks alike. This is the story of the performers and their desperate journey of survival amidst the dying world of the American carny experience."
