Current SMASH lead and one-time American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee is rumored to be returning to the hit reality singing competition show where she first found fame this Thursday, for not only an appearance, but also a live performance.
Also rumored to be appearing on Thursday's live results show will be One Republic lead singer Ryan Tedder, who previously penned a song specifically for McPhee on Season One of her NBC musical drama series.
McPhee previously placed as #2 in the competition in Season Five of the decade-plus running reality phenomenon, ultimately losing out to champion Taylor Hicks, but has managed to forge a successful solo pop career since, with some significant film and TV forays, too - with SMASH topping the list, no doubt.
So, will she be singing a song from SMASH on American Idol on Thursday? The series makes the big move from Tuesdays to Saturdays next week, so now would be an ideal time to bring more awareness to the enterprise, particularly given the flagging ratings for the newly focused sophomore season so far.
