"Pleased to Enjoy the Difficulty", a new solo play written and performed by Katharine McLeod, and directed by Bryn Boice, premieres November 4 in New York at the second annual United Solo Festival.

At what point did Uggs and flip-flops become acceptable dinner attire? Probably just around the same time we all went on Prozac and started reading "The Secret." In "Pleased to Enjoy the Difficulty," Katharine McLeod tackles the big questions, navigating the world of self-improvement and our obsession with finding True Happiness - one pair of impossibly high stilettos at a time.

McLeod is a New York-based actor/writer. Her regional credits include Pride and Prejudice (Actors Theatre of Louisville), Private Lives (Two River), Comedy of Errors (Vermont Shakespeare), Twelfth Night and All's Well That Ends Well (Shakespeare in the Square-Toronto). In NYC, she played Cass in Pull Together Productions' Wonder of the World, and has appeared in readings for the Classical Theatre of Harlem and The Public Theater's Emerging Playwrights Group. She also appeared in Dear Harvey: A Play About Harvey Milk, winner of FringeNYC's 2010 Overall Excellence Award for Ensemble. Katharine is a graduate of the University of Washington's MFA program, and earned her BA at UC Berkeley.

Director Bryn Boice is co-creator of taxdeductible theatre's The Dare Project, a series of 10-minute plays written on audience dares. She has written, directed and/or acted in over twenty-five Dare plays since its inception; Dare XVIII is set for November 22 (www.taxdeductibletheatre.org). Ms. Boice won Honorable Mention for Outstanding Direction at American Globe Theatre's Turnip Festival 2010 for Mya Kagan's Puppet Love and was invited to remount it for Ars Nova's ANTFest 2011. Her other current project, The Complaint, by Randy Noojin, (CEO Theatre) can be seen at The 45th Street Theater from Oct. 27-Nov. 13 (www.ceotheatre.org). She holds an MFA in Acting from FSU's Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training.

"Pleased to Enjoy the Difficulty" is part of the United Solo Festival, November 4, 2011 at 6:00 p.m at Theatre Row, 410 West 42nd Street, New York City.
