As previously reported, Kate Walsh will return to ABC's Grey's Anatomy for an upcoming musical episode set to air at the end of this month. Walsh currently stars as Dr. Addison Montgomery in Private Practice, ABC's spin-off series from Grey's Anatomy.
Walsh revealed on Good Morning America that prepping for the episode has been "traumatic." "I had to take lessons and it was a traumatic experience for me, tears were shed. I went in for lessons and... put it this way, after the first lesson with the vocal coach and the musical director was there, he came up to me and was like, 'You know, you don't have to do this'. I was like, 'No, wait! I really (want to).'"
TVGuide originally reported that the musical episode will feature songs made popular by the medical series, like The Fray's "How to Save a Life" and Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars," which were both featured in the second season....Kevin McKidd tells TVGuide.com that he'll be involved in both of those numbers, as well as singing Gomez's "How We Operate," which was heard in the penultimate episode of Season 2, "Deterioration of the Fight or Flight Response."Says McKidd: "We're in the studio right now...I did my recording [Wednesday]. I've got quite a big couple of numbers. It's a one-off episode in Callie's point of view. It's very dramatic. It's a very intense episode. It's not going to be jazz hands and glitter balls."
Walsh recently made her Off-Broadway debut Dusk Rings a Bell. Her regional stage credits include Flesh and Blood, Happy Birthday, Wanda June and Troilus and Cressida.
