In Episode 314, award-winning musical theatre writer Joel B. New sat down with performer and songwriter Kate Steinberg.

Kate Steinberg is a New York City-based performer, composer, songwriter, and session vocalist. NYC: Ludo's Broken Bride (Ars Nova and The Cutting Room), concerts at Joe's Pub, The Laurie Beechman, The Bitter End, Piano's, 54 Below, Subculture, Rockwood Music Hall. Kate's arrangements, vocals, and compositions have been featured in artist recordings, jingles, film, television shows, video games, and advertisements for clients such as Hefty, Oreo, Marvel, Coors Light, Brother, UPS, McDonald's, and KFC. She has written music and lyrics for a family friendly musical selected for NYMF and The NYCT Festival. Kate holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Songwriting from Berklee College of Music and is currently recording her debut EP.

For the live song portion of the episode, Ms. Steinberg performed "Apples" from Joel B. New's MACKENZIE & THE MISSING BOY. Accompanied by Gillian Berkowitz and recorded live at Ripley-Grier Studios.

An in demand pianist and music director, Gillian Berkowitz has performed piano, keyboard, accordion, and vocals in over 25 Broadway and Off Broadway shows. She can currently be seen and heard in Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia, Wicked, Motown, and Avenue Q. Gillian has music directed dozens of new works throughout her career, and has been featured both as a soloist and collaborator playing jazz, classical, theatre, world, and contemporary music in venues across New York City.
