The beloved actress and author Kate Mulgrew will discuss her life and her new memoir BORN WITH TEETH in a Q&A with Rosie O'Donnell at the Vineyard Theatre (108 E. 15 St.) in a one-time only event, AN EVENING WITH KATE MULGREW, on Sunday, May 3 at 6 p.m. it has been announced by The Vineyard's artistic directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern.
A renowed actress known for her work in ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK, STAR TREK: VOYAGER, TEA AT FIVE, EQUUS and at The Vineyard in SOMEWHERE FUN, Ms. Mulgrew's BORN WITH TEETH is her highly-praised book about her upbringing in a large, eccentric Irish family, of the daughter she gave up for adoption at 22 and went looking for 20 years later, and the behind-the-scenes details of her singular career.
At AN EVENING WITH KATE MULGREW, she will read selections from BORN WITH TEETH, followed by a Q&A with Emmy Award winning comedian and television personality Rosie O'Donnell, herself a member of a large Irish family. Ms. O'Donnell says about BORN WITH TEETH: "It's brilliant and moving. I loved it."
Hosted by Vineyard Theatre, AN EVENING WITH KATE MULGREW will benefit The Vineyard and its various programs that support the development and performance of new works for the stage. The $150 admission includes the event, a copy of BORN WITH TEETH and a book-signing reception following the Q&A.
Publishers Weekly describes BORN WITH TEETH as "an assured gem of a memoir," and Augusten Burroughs (RUNNING WITH SCISSORS) says the book is "gorgeously written, breathtakingly honest and impossible to put down."
