Master ballet teacher Kat Wildish presents the semi-annual Performing in NY Showcase at The Ailey Citigroup Theater March 2-3, 2012 with over 160 local dancers. The spring program features guest choreographers Ginger Cox, Iquail Shaheed, and Emily Bufferd, in addition to multilevel adult students from all styles of open dance classes across the city. The three shows run Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 3pm and 7pm.
"This spring we're thrilled to share the joy of performance with everyone who's had that dream of being onstage," says producer Kat Wildish, Ailey Extension faculty member and former ABT and NYCB dancer. "This is one of largest casts yet, and I'm excited to have my ballet students share the stage with other dance forms." Wildish invites students from The Ailey Extension and Broadway Dance Center to perfom alongside budding choreographers and small professional troupes. Everything from ballet to ballroom is represented, and the showcase consistently sells-out in advance.
Ms. Wildish's adult ballet students will perform Spanish works from "Don Quixote" and "Swan Lake."
Choreographers for the March Showcase are: Bev Brown, Tony Bradford, Emily Bufferd, Mishi Castroverde, Ginger Cox, Vic Dimonda, Yuka Kawazu, Daniel Longo, Q, Sue Samuels, Iquail Shaheed, Pavan Thimmaiah, Hsiao-Wei, and Kat Wildish.
