Karen Capili, a newer designer on the West Coast, debuted her new line of fashion outerwear for 2013.
The line of outerwear is available in short and full-length bodies, with both closure and open silhouettes. The designs feature a combination of fur (mink, rabbit, rex, raccoon, lamb and ostrich), many of which are beautifully combined with chiffon and leather trims. Inspiration for the line is luxurious animal skin and prints that are classic, yet fun and trendy. The collection includes capes, vests, jackets and coats. Pricing for the outerwear collection ranges from $250-$1,850.
Capili is known for her use of bright vivid colors from the 1980s, which she cleverly intertwines with Victorian-era designs to create unique pieces that reflect divergent time periods yet create a distinctive look that is bold and dramatic, yet also classical and formal.
"Outerwear was a natural direction for us to go," said Capili. "I wanted to make sure the outerwear collection maintained our distinctive look so we could carry forward the feel and style that we have established for our couture and ready-to-wear collections."
Capili recently launched a branded online store at www.KarenCapili.com/store. The site offers the designer's most recent lines of both ready-to-wear and couture collections, with consumers able to view and purchase a wide variety of Karen Capili apparel.
