Kenneth Kantor, who plays Lord Scrumptious in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, will temporarily replace Marc Kudisch as Baron Bomburst in the family-friendly musical

With Kudisch performing in a limited run of Michael John LaChiusa's new musical See What I Wanna See, Kantor will play the child-hating villain from September 24th through November 27th; ensemble member Kurt von Schmittou will go on as Lord Scrumptious during that time.

Kantor last appeared on Broadway in the revival of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and has also been seen in Guys and Dolls, The Phantom of the Opera, Me and My Girl, Mame, Brigadoon and The Grand Tour.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
is adapted by Jeremy Sams from the novel by Ian Fleming and the film that followed, the musical boasts a score by Richard M. and Robert B. Sherman.  The show is directed by Adrian Noble, with musical staging by Gillian Lynne.

The show received 5 Tony Award nominations, 10 Outer Critics Circle Award nominations and 4 Drama Desk Award nominations, with Jan Maxwell (who plays Baroness Bomburst) receiving a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical.  Also featured in Chitty's cast are Raúl Esparza as Caractacus Potts, Erin Dilly as Truly Scrumptious, Philip Bosco as Grandpa Potts, as well as Chip Zien as Goran, Robert Sella as Boris, and Kevin Cahoon as the Childcatcher.  The show has another dazzling, high-tech star--the car of the title, which really does fly.

Produced on Broadway by Dana Broccoli, Barbara Broccoli, Michael G. Wilson, Frederick Zollo, Nicholas Paleologos, Jeffrey Sine, Harvey Weinstein, East of Doheny Theatricals and Michael Rose Limited, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang features sets and costumes by Anthony Ward, lighting by Mark Henderson and sound design by Andrew Bruce, with orchestrations and dance arrangements by Chris Walker, and musical direction and supervision by Robert Scott.
