PopRally Presents: TEN
Saturday, September 10, 8:00-11:00 p.m.
Various locations throughout the Museum

PopRally is turning one decade young, and guests are invited to the best TENth birthday party they've never been to. TEN is a unique, interactive party that takes place throughout the entire Museum-in the galleries, the Sculpture Garden, and spaces in between-for one night only. Come for full open bars and snacks, stay for cutting-edge DJ sets and bespoke musical environments, all while engaging in a mysterious, sweeping game paying tribute both to Fluxus history and modern game design. Conceived in collaboration with Recess Art, TEN invites guests to channel their childhood ingenuity and create their own new intimate, unexpected experience of The Museum of Modern Art.

Lost Chapters of Modernism: Case Studies in Reconstruction
Tuesday, September 13, 6:00 p.m.
The Celeste Bartos Theater, mezzanine, The Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Education and Research Building

Beginning with Dadaglobe Reconstructed guest curator Adrian Sudhalter's own research on Tristan Tzara's unrealized Dadaglobeanthology, this program features several case studies that explore the reconstruction of modernist works that were either never realized, lost, destroyed, or inherently ephemeral. Other participants include ballet reconstructionists Millicent Hodson and Kenneth Archer; artist Josiah McElheny; and William Whitaker, Curator and Collections Manager, Architectural Archives, University of Pennsylvania School of Design. Maria Gough, Joseph Pulitzer, Jr. Professor of Modern Art, Department of the History of Art and Architecture, Harvard University, moderates.

Kai Althoff: and then leave me to the common swifts (und dann überlasst mich den Mauerseglern)

The International Council of The Museum of Modern Art Gallery, sixth floor

Kai Althoff (b. 1966, Germany) is one of the most significant artists of his generation, which came to maturity at the turn of the 21st century. This exhibition features 225 works from all periods of his career, including painting, drawing, collage, sculptural objects, photography, and sound. Drawn from public and private collections worldwide, the selection of works was made by Althoff and will be displayed in an immersive environment that he designed. The exhibition is accompanied by an artist's book, also designed by Althoff.

Projects 104: Nástio Mosquito
September 23-October 30
Various locations throughout the Museum

Nástio Mosquito's multidisciplinary practice bridges performance, music, video, installation, sound, and poetry. For Projects 104, Mosquito takes as a point of departure an inquiry into the distinction between the human characteristics of anger and bitterness, probing this topic through songwriting, theater, and spoken word poetry. Mosquito is interested in the fluid possibilities of language both as a means of expression and as a tool for empowerment. Respectable Thief begins with a set of text fragments that recur and recombine across the Project's three elements: a single performance staged in various locations throughout the Museum; a video installation; and several visual and sonic interventions across MoMA's existing media platforms, including the display screens in the lobby, the children's audio tour, and select social media channels. Born in Angola, Mosquito lives and works in Ghent, Belgium. This is his first solo exhibition in a U.S. museum.

A Symposium on Bruce Conner

In conjunction with the exhibition BRUCE CONNER: IT'S ALL TRUE, this half-day symposium examines Conner's relationships to artistic communities in and outside of California; his collaborators in the fields of poetry and music; female subjects; and his crucial involvement with avant-garde cinema and underground film communities. Kevin Hatch, Assistant Professor of Art History, SUNY Binghamton, and author ofLooking for Bruce Conner (2012) will serve as the keynote speaker. Participants include Anastasia Aukeman, Assistant Professor, The New School, and author of Welcome to Painterland: Bruce Conner and the Rat Bastard Protective Association (2016); Michael Duncan, art critic; Melissa Ragona, Associate Professor of Visual Culture and Critical Theory, Carnegie Mellon; and Sheldon Renan, writer, director, and producer. Exhibition co-curators Stuart Comer and Laura Hoptman moderate.

On select Wednesday evenings in September, October, and November, historians, scholars, poets, curators, and friends lead the public on intimate tours through the exhibition Kai Althoff: and then leave me to the common swifts, sharing their personal and artistic perspectives on the artist's work. Artist, curator, and critic Robert Storr leads the tour onSeptember 28.
