In light of KINKY BOOTS' 13 Tony nominations and the show's upcoming cast album release, it's only fitting that the musical's producers are looking beyond Broadway. According to the Daily Mail, Kinky Boots is eyeing the West End, though when the show will transfer across the pond is far from set.

"It took seven years to develop -- it was like birthing an elephant," producer Daryl Roth told the Mail. "So, we'll take our time and bring Kinky Boots over when everything is ready."

Director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell discussed searching for British actors for the leads but said that if none could be found, he would like Stark Sands and Billy Porter to start off the run.

Kinky Boots opened on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on April 4, 2013. The production leads this season in Tony nominations, with nods for Best Musical; Best Book of a Musical, Harvey Fierstein; Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre, Music & Lyrics: Cyndi Lauper; Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, Stark Sands; Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, Billy Porter; Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical, Annaleigh Ashford; Best Direction of a Musical, Jerry Mitchell; Best Choreography, Jerry Mitchell; Best Orchestrations, Stephen Oremus; Best Scenic Design of a Musical, David Rockwell; Best Costume Design of a Musical, Gregg Barnes; Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Kenneth Posner; and Best Sound Design of a Musical, John Shivers.

In Kinky Boots, Charlie Price (Tony Award nominee Stark Sands) has suddenly inherited his father's shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to live up to his father's legacy and save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola (Billy Porter). A fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos, Lola turns out to be the one person who can help Charlie become the man he's meant to be. As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible... and discovers that when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world.

Inspired by a true story and based on the Miramax motion picture written by Geoff Deane and Tim Firth, Kinky Boots features a warm and witty book by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage, Torch Song Trilogy, Newsies) and a richly diverse musical score from Grammy Award-winning rock icon Cyndi Lauper, in her stunning theatrical debut. The production is directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Hairspray, La Cage, Broadway Bares), with music supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Stephen Oremus (Book of Mormon, Wicked).

On Broadway, Tony Award nominee Stark Sands and Billy Porter lead a cast of thirty-two that also includes Annaleigh Ashford, Celina Carvajal, Daniel Sherman, Marcus Neville, Paul Canaan, Kevin Smith Kirkwood, Kyle Taylor Parker, Kyle Post, Charlie Sutton, Joey Taranto, Andy Kelso, Tory Ross, Jennifer Perry, Adinah Alexander,Eric Anderson, EuGene Barry-Hill, Stephen Berger, Caroline Bowman, Cole Bullock, Sandra DeNise, Jonah Halperin, Eric Leviton, Ellyn Marie Marsh, John Jeffrey Martin, Marquise Neal, Nathan Peck, Robert Pendilla, Lucia Spina, Sebastian Hedges Thomas and Timothy Ware.
