Producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig announced today that Kinky Boots, the Tony Award-winning musical, will celebrate its 100,000th fan 'Like' on Facebook by offering free tickets to lottery entrants for the week of March 18-23, 2014. For this week only, the production will offer 10 pairs of free tickets to each performance, in place of the regular $37 lottery price.
"We're so thrilled fans have embraced Kinky Boots as they have, both in the theatre nightly and on social media. As we approach the show's first anniversary on Broadway, to celebrate this huge milestone, we want to show them our gratitude by offering the opportunity to come back and see the show on us," said producers Roth and Luftig."
Lottery entries will be accepted outside the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street) beginning two and a half hours prior to each performance. Two hours before curtain, names will be drawn at random for the chance to win free tickets. Limit one entry per person and two tickets per winner - entries will be checked for duplicates. Winners must be present at the time of the drawing and show valid photo ID. Subject to availability. Seats may be partial view.
With a Tony Award-winning score by pop icon Cyndi Lauper, a book by four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, and direction and choreography by two-time Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell, Kinky Boots opened on April 4, 2013 and continues to play to standing-room-only crowds nightly. The show, which has broken all box office records at the Hirshfeld Theatre, recouped its costs in October 2013, after just 30 weeks on Broadway.
Kinky Boots took home six 2013 Tony Awards, the most of any show this season, including Best Musical, Best Score (Cyndi Lauper), Best Choreography (Jerry Mitchell), Best Actor (Billy Porter), Best Orchestrations (Stephen Oremus), and Best Sound Design (John Shivers). The show also received the Drama League, Outer Critics Circle, and Broadway.com Awards for Best Musical, along with many other accolades.
In Kinky Boots, Charlie Price (Andy Kelso) has reluctantly inherited his father's shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to live up to his father's legacy and save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola (Porter). A fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos, Lola turns out to be the one person who can help Charlie become the man he's meant to be. As they work to turn the factory around, this unlikely pair finds that they have more in common than they ever dreamed possible... and discovers that when you change your mind about someone, you can change your whole world.
