Julius Caesar will end its limited Broadway engagement at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street) with this Sunday's June 12th sold-out matinee.

Starring two-time AcademyAward-winner Denzel Washington, the Shakespearean tragedy, along with Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays, has been one of the most profitable plays of the 2004-2005 theater season, states a press release.
"Julius Caesar is one of Shakespeare's most eloquent plays set against a political backdrop of tragic conflict as one heroic and noble man (Brutus) is tormented over the choice between loyalty to his country, and loyalty to his friend."

Directed by Tony Award-winner Daniel Sullivan, Julius Caesar began performances on Tuesday, March 8th and opened Sunday, April 3th.  The production will have played 112 performances in total (31 previews and 81 regular performances).  Washington (as Brutus) headlines the 30-member cast which features Colm Feore as Brutus' co-conspirator, Cassius; Jessica Hecht as Brutus' wife, Portia; William Sadler as Julius Caesar; Tamara Tunie as Caesar's wife, Calpurnia; Eamonn Walker as Mark Antony and Jack Willis as Casca. Stephen Lee Anderson, Jacqueline Antaramian, Kelly AuCoin, Ed Onipede Blunt, David Cromwell, Keith Davis, Peter Jay Fernandez, Seth Fisher, Effie Johnson, Steven M. Jones, Ty Jones, Aaron Krohn, Quentin Maré, Christopher McHale, Mark Mineart, Dan Moran, Jason Manuel Olazábal, Howard W. Overshown, Patrick Page, Kurt Rhoads, John Douglas Thompson, Richard Topol and Henry Woronicz are also in the company.

Film and theatre luminaries such as Sidney Poitier, Halle Berry, Paul Newman, Prince and Aretha Franklin have been among the audiences witnessing Washington's return to the Broadway stage after a 17-year absence; he made his debut in Checkmates in 1988.
