Julie White To Interview Theresa Rebeck At Eastman Kodak Co Theater 4/28

New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) will host a Conversation with... Theresa Rebeck, a respected and widely produced literary talent whose works have spanned all media from television to film, theater and books. Rebeck will be interviewed by Tony Award-winning actor Julie White.

A Conversation with .....Theresa Rebeck will be held on Tuesday, April 28 at 6:30 PM at the Eastman Kodak Company Theater - 360 West 31st Street, 2nd Floor, NYC. Attendees may register online at www.nywift.org.

Rebeck and White are currently developing a gender politics comedy project titled Women's Studies for HBO, and White has appeared in three of Rebeck's plays.

"NYWIFT is delighted to continue our 2009 ‘Conversation' series with the multi-dimensional Theresa Rebeck whose literary skills have enriched our media," says Terry Lawler, NYWIFT's Executive Director. "And we are doubly honored to have Julie White, whose acting has brought life to Theresa's characters, also join the conversation. These two outstanding women will make this a NYWFT event to remember."

Rebeck, a Pulitzer Prize nominated author for co-writing the play Omnium Gatherum, with over 150 productions of her plays being performed each year, is also a novelist whose first book, Three Girls and Their Brother was published by Shaye Areheart books in 2008. A compelling tale about "it" girls in New York City, this book received rave reviews from numerous publications including People magazine and Entertainment Weekly. Three Girls... is the winner of a 2009 Alex Award for one of the "10 best books that appeal to teen audiences," and chosen by Booklist as one of the top ten first novels of the year. The book comes out in paperback April 21.

For television, Rebeck has penned episodes for Dream On, Brooklyn Bridge, L.A. Law, American Dreamer, Maximum Bob, First Wave and Third Watch. She has been a writer/producer for Canterbury's Law, Smith, Law and Order: Criminal Intent and NYPD Blue. Her produced feature films include Harriet the Spy, Gossip and the independent feature Sunday on the Rocks.

Past New York productions of Rebeck's work for the stage include the Broadway production of Mauritius for the Manhattan Theater Club; The Scene, The Water's Edge, Loose Knit, The Family of Mann and Spike Heels at Second Stage; Bad Dates and The Butterfly Collection at Playwrights Horizons; and View of the Dome at New York Theatre Workshop. As co-writer of Omnium Gatherum, she was a finalist for the 2003 Pulitzer Prize. Her newest work, The Understudy, will open in New York at the Laura Pels Theater at the Roundabout in the Fall of 2009. Her play Our House will be at Playwrights Horizons in the Spring of 2009. Rebeck will also be the honored playwright at the 2009 Great Plains Theater Conference in May.

Julie White received the Tony Award for Best Actress for her performance in The Little Dog Laughed. She also received an Obie Award and Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel, Outer Critics Circle and Drama League nominations for this performance. She recently starred on stage in From Up Here (Drama Desk, Drama League nominations) at Manhattan Theatre Club. Her other New York stage appearances include Fiction at The Roundabout, The Heidi Chronicles, Dinner With Friends, Barbra's Wedding and also Bad Dates, Spike Heels, and The Family of Man all by Theresa Rebeck.

White's television work includes Cavemen, guest starring as Mitzi Dalton Huntley on HBO's Six Feet Under, and a series regular on Grace Under Fire, The Heidi Chronicles, Law And Order, Law And Order: SVU, Whoopi, Ally McBeal, Strong Medicine, Touched By An Angel and Arli$. Her film credits include Transformers 2, The Astronaut Farmer, Michael Clayton, The Nanny Diaries, Transformers, War Of The Worlds, Slap Her, She's French, Breaking Upwards and Sunday on the Rocks.

Rebeck and White are currently developing with Ben Karlin a gender politics comedy project titled Women's Studies for HBO.
