The Duplex Cabaret Theatre will welcome Grammy-winner Julie Gold back to its stage, following her sold-out, six-month run in 2005. On Friday, May 26th at 7pm, Gold will present an evening of her own music, accompanied by singers Emily Bindiger and Margaret Dorn. She will also welcome special guest, singer/songwriter Christine Lavin.

Gold is a New York City songwriter best known for Bette Midler's version of her song "From A Distance," which won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1991. She has also written songs for Patti LaBelle, Patti LuPone (who used Gold's song Heaven as her grand finale in her one woman show on Broadway), Kathy Mattea, The Byrds, Judy Collins, James Galway, Lea Salonga, Cliff Richard, Frances Black and many others. Her other songs include "Heaven," "Southbound Train," "Good Night, New York," "Mountain of Sorrow," "Thanks to You" and "Dream Loud." Her songs have been featured in movies such as Andre and Unfaithful, as well as on TV shows. Gold's latest CD is "The Girl I Found," produced by Emily Bindinger. From July – December, 2005, Gold broke attendance records at The Duplex Cabaret Theatre with her cabaret performances.

In September 2005 singer/songwriter/guitarist Lavin's latest CD," folkZinger," on Appleseed Records, was released. This now brings her number of solo albums to seventeen, joining three "Four Bitchin' Babes" disks, and six compilations she produced showcasing the works of dozens of contemporary singer/songwriters whose music she loves. Lavin has won one NAIRD award, two New York Music Awards, five ASCAP composer awards, the Kate Wolf Memorial Award and her songs have been performed by such diverse artists as Sutton Foster, the Dartmouth College Decibelles, The Accidentals, and the Washington D.C. Gay Men's Chorus. She also works as a freelance writer (The Washington Post, Delta "SKY" Magazine, etc.) and is the occasional guest host for the popular "Sunday Breakfast" radio program on WFUV, 90.7 FM in New York City, and now also on xm satellite radio (channel 15).

The Duplex Cabaret Theatre is located at 61 Christopher St., in the heart of New York's West Village. There is a $10 cover charge, as well as a two-drink minimum. No one under 21 will be permitted, and credit cards are accepted. For reservations, please call 212.255.5438.
