Hollywood blogger Army Archerd, powered by Variety.com, reports that Julie Andrews will return to Broadway as a director in the musical stage-adaptation of her book "The Great American Mousical," which she co-wrote with daughter Emma Walton Hamilton.
Reportedly, the in-development production "is being musicked by Anthony Drewe and George Stiles, the team who tuned the musical Mary Poppins. The ultra charming Mousical also takes on some of the recognizable Broadway stars who appear on stage above the cellar-dwellng mice."
Tony Walton illustrated the book, and is rumored to set- and costume-design the production.
Andrews' and Waltons' previous book, "Simeon's Gift," will tour children's theaters and schools after an engagement at the Sag Harbor Bay Street Theater this Thanksgiving. The show features music by Ian Fraser and John Bucchino.
