NYU Tisch Presents: Inside Up at Joe's Pub Wednesday, May 7 at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $7 for students with ID and $10 general admission.

Emerging artists from the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music and the Department of Drama at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts present Inside Up, a cabaret that seeks to express truth through song. This unique collaboration includes a wide range of musical styles that incite social awareness and change. From love songs to jazz standards, original compositions to pop ballads, this one-night-only performance will combine the innermost thoughts, wishes, and values of twelve unique individuals who are hopeful for a brighter tomorrow.

Inside Up is directed by Joe's Pub favorite Nora York with her collaborator pianist/composer Jamie Lawrence and choreographer of Barbara Allen.

Mem Nahdar, also known as simply "M", is an internationally acclaimed vocalist and film composer. She will perform at Joe's Pub Wednesday, May 7 at 9:30pm. Widely known for her Off-Broadway performance art piece entitled: Madwoman: A Contemporary Opera, Nahadr returns to the international stage with a bold new work entitled: Femme Fractale - An Opera of Reflection. With a nearly six octave range and mesmerizing stage presence, Nahadr has captivated audiences worldwide. She is also very well known for her performance of the ballad "Butterfly" on the soundtrack to the classic Japanese Anime film Cowboy Bebop -The Movie. In addition to her work as a musician Nahadr is an author, composer, independent filmmaker and social activist for Albinism worldwide. Tickets are $20.

Amy Lynn & The Gunshow blows glitter all over their signature Memphis-meets-Motown soul/rock style with their debut album Don't Trip On The Glitter, which was produced by Steve Greenwell (Joss Stone, Diane Birch, Steve Cropper). At the helm of this seven-piece band is Amy Lynn, a vocal powerhouse whose quirky flair and down-to-earth humor is bolstered by the serious musicianship of The Gunshow (baritone sax, tenor sax, trumpet, keys, bass and drums). The group has performed with Roberta Flack, Spoon, Bette Midler, Red Baraat, St. Vincent, The National, Yo La Tengo, Loser's Lounge, Duffy, Antibalas, and the Radio City Orchestra. With special guest Shayna Steele, Amy Lynn & The Gunshow will play Joe's Pub Thursday, May 8 at 7:00pm. Tickets are $20.

Champagne Jerry continues to roll out the hits every month, and this month's performance is Thursday, May 8 at 9:30pm! Real beats, real rapping, real champagne, real realness. As Champagne Jerry releases singles monthly from his forthcoming album For Real, You Guys, the rapper pairs each to a show themed to that single at the legendary Joe's Pub. Champagne Jerry, also known as Neal Medlyn, is a rapper and performance artist who, along with his main producer, Max Tannone and his onstage entourage, the Champagne Club, seek to transform the world every single time they hit the stage. Tickets are $12.

The Children's Aid Society Chorus program strives to impart confidence, self-esteem, vocal excellence and team work through the lens of a musical education. The CAS Chorus program engages youth from across the Children's Aid Society community centers and schools, spanning neighborhoods from the South Bronx and Washington Heights to Greenwich Village, Brooklyn and Harlem. The CAS Chorus has performed at Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, Belmont Stakes, Joe's Pub, the Naumberg Bandshell, and the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. One of the key components to the program is their focus on giving their young singers professional experiences in NYC's theatrical and musical venues. The CAS Chorus will return to Joe's Pub Friday, May 9 at 7:00pm. Tickets are $20-45.

Fredericks Brown is vocalist Deva Mahal and keyboard player Stephanie Brown. Influenced by Nina Simone, Sly and the Family Stone and more, the duo creates compositions with lyrics that combine imagery and narrative to deliver a startling blend of strength and intimacy. Moreover, they draw on their wide-ranging cultural heritage - Mahal, the daughter of legendary blues musician Taj Mahal, unearths her rich organic soul and blues roots, while Brown uses the sublime grooves from her native New Zealand - to create energetic live shows, rich harmonies and beautifully crafted songs. At the Pub on Friday, May 9 at 9:30pm, they will play music from their newest EP release, entitled Glass House Mountains. Tickets are $15.

Bonzie, 18-year-old Chicago native Nina Ferraro, is not a traditional confessional singer-songwriter. She's more of an observer and commentator, drawn to expressing the concerns of her generation with unwavering honesty, and delivering them with powerful abandon. It's partly for this reason that Ferraro has chosen to release her songs under the moniker Bonzie (an image and word she has long associated with her creative output) as opposed to her own name.

Johnny Showcase & The Lefty Lucy Cabaret will come to Joe's Pub Friday, May 9 at 11:30 PM. Tickets are $12.

Johnny Showcase is an electrifying experience: a joyful, innovative tour-de-force that blissfully toes the line between performance art and a psychedelic soul revival. Carrying the torch of funk-rock pioneers like Funkadelic and Frank Zappa, their blistering live show has gained a massive following and propelled Johnny to something that of a funky Philadelphia folk hero legend.

Holly Near has worked for over 40 years as a singer, songwriter and teacher. With her powerful voice, wry sense of humor, and curious mind, she interprets the songs of the folk tradition, Broadway, cabaret and pop with equal grace. Near is joined by pianist Adrienne Torf, bass player Jan Martinelli and special guests Emma's Revolution, a duo that contributes guitar, banjo, ukulele and exquisitely complex vocal harmonies. In an uplifting and entertaining evening of music, Near and friends perform material from her recent album Peace Becomes You, old favorites and a few standards from the American Songbook. Holly Near brings her show to Joe's Pub Saturday, May 10 at 7:00pm. Tickets are $30.

Emerson Hart, frontman for the multi-platinum band Tonic, comes back to time and again on his new record, Beauty in Disrepair, his first solo release in over six years. The album touches on loss, but also the beauty of rebirth, newfound love, family and starting a clean slate. Beauty in Disrepair marks a remarkably polished and honest follow-up to his 2007 solo debut Cigarettes & Gasoline, a critically-acclaimed album that spawned two Top 20 singles. Emerson Hart plays Joe's Pub Saturday, May 10 at 9:30pm. Tickets are $18.

Reverend Billy & the Stop-Shopping Choir return to Joe's Pub on Sundays, May 11 - June 22 at 2:00pm with The Honeybeelujah! Show for a two-month residency after last year's performances in Chase Bank lobbies, and New York jails and courts. In 2013, they were inspired by the extinction and resurrection of the Golden Toad. This year, the Honey Bee is the hero. The presence of the pesticides of "Big Ag" and the struggle by bees to survive, is inspiration for new songs, songs with lots of Bee-atitude, hard work and sticky sweetness. Honeybeelujah!

Reverend Billy and his singing-activists ask: What time is this? Time to party before the plague? Or is it more like the 20's between world wars? In 2014, stepping on stage amidst fire and drought, freak storms and extinction, there seems to be a strange joy in these first days of apocalypse. They seek to rededicate themselves and others to the politicizing of survival, pitting our freedom against the financiers of climate change. Tickets are $15.

BroadwayWorld.com continues its ongoing 2014 concert series at Joe's Pub, hosting an all-star tribute concert and benefit celebrating the music of incomparable multi-award-winning composer Jule Styne. This event will also honor Mother's Day and raise funds for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This evening is directed by BroadwayWorld's own Pat Cerasaro, creator of the popular InDepth InterView series and a wide range of other innovative content for the site, with music direction by Broadway and cabaret veteran Phil Hall.

Jule Styne is the legendary Tony Award- and Academy Award-winning composer known for writing over 1500 songs over the course of his career, including scores for notable Broadway musicals: Gypsy, Funny Girl, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Peter Pan, Bells Are Ringing, Do Re Mi, Suagr and Hallelujah, Baby! Styne famously collaborated with Sammy Cahn, Stephen Sondheim, Betty Comden and Adolph Green, Bob Merrill, Leo Robin and E.Y. Harburg.

NYU's hottest rock a cappella group the N'Harmonics return to Joe's Pub on Sunday, May 11 at 9:30pm for their final concert of the year! The N'Harmz are known for their eclectic song choices and arrangements (i.e. The Allman Brothers, John Legend, Radiohead, Rihanna and more) and their fresh looks, loud belts, whistle tones, high Cs, riff #210 and FIERCE beatboxing. Their ridiculously fabulous alumni have and can be seen on Broadway in Wicked, Mamma Mia!, Spring Awakening and a slew of other productions. The N'Harmz have performed at venues like Lincoln Center, CBGB's and The Beacon Theatre. Tickets are $14.

Bay Street Theater's 3rd Annual Spring Benefit: Curtain Up! Honoring Bonnie Compley & Stewart Lane, & Pia & Jimmy Zankel comes to Joe's Pub Monday, May 12 at 6:00PM. Tickets are $150-$500.

Bay Street Theater presents their 3rd Annual benefit event, Curtain Up! Spring Benefit, to raise funds for its theatrical and educational programs. The evening's honorees are Bonnie Comley and Stewart Lane, and Pia and Jimmy Zankel. Keren Ann Zeidel is a singer-songwriter, composer, sound designer and producer. She has released six solo albums "101" (2011), "Keren Ann" (2007), "Nolita" (2005), "Not Going Anywhere" (2003), "La Disparition" (2002), "La Biographie De Luka Philipsen" (2000). Her songs have been performed by artists like Jane Birkin, Francoise Hardy, Rosa Pasos, Henri Salvador and Iggy Pop.?Her first opera Red Watersco, written with Bardi Johansson, was produced by The Opera de Rouen and performed in opera houses throughout France. The pair also perform as the band Lady & Bird, which has released a self-titled studio album in 2003 and an orchestral album recorded with the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra "La Ballad Of Lady & Bird" (2009).

Keren Ann has contributed to several soundtracks, including an original score for Eytan Fox's latest feature film Yossi, and songs for TV series (Grey's Anatomy, Six Feet Under, Big Love) and commercials (H&M, Galia, SkyTeam, Orange). Keren Ann comes to Joe's Pub Monday, May 12 at 9:30pm. Tickets are $25.

Tammy Faye Starlite comes to Joe's Pub as Marianne Faithfull in Broken English on Tuesday, May 13 at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $15

Tammy Faye Starlite, critically acclaimed for her performance piece Nico: Chelsea Mädchen, now celebrates the music of another 1960's icon, performing Marianne Faithfull's groundbreaking album Broken English in its entirety. Backed by Kevin Salem and the Redlands Quintet, Tammy Faye tackles the album that shattered Faithfull's image as Mick Jagger's pop waif girlfriend, re-emerging as an uncompromising artist, strong, fierce, honest and self-aware to the most painfully human degree. Tammy Faye's performance of Broken English captures Faithfull remarkable transformation, inhabiting her character and giving voice.

Every month, Bridget Everett & The Tender Moments bring their funny yet gut-wrenching and outrageous performance to Joe's Pub. This month's performance will be Tuesday, May 13 at 9:30p, Led by the singing tour-de-force Bridget Everett, the band has sold-out venues nationally and instantly developed a cult-like following with their edgy, sexed-up, punk rock cabaret. Each performance is as explosive as it is unpredictable, welcoming special guests as varied as Fred Armisen, Patti LuPone, Flea, Dan Finnerty, Tonya Pinkins, Marc Shaiman, Erin Markey, Peaches, Neal Medlyn and Jake Shears while fans such as Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, Andy Cohen and Lily Taylor can be seen laughing hysterically in the audience. Julian Fleisher's wide embrace of all corners of the pop songbook, his barn-burning Rather Big Band and a fresh and irreverent performance style garnered him rave reviews and comparisons to predecessors as diverse as Sammy Davis, Jr., Mel Torme and Lenny Bruce. He is continually intersecting with other creative types as a producer, curator, and bringer-together of makers-of-things. As a young man in NYC, his love of singing unencumbered by the demands of a role led him out of the theater and into the nightclub.

Fleisher pulls focus on the art of songwriting on his latest album Finally, an understated selection of carefully curated songs. The album takes listeners on a more intimate and personal journey. Fleisher will celebrate the release of Finally at Joe's Pub on Wednesday, May 14 at 7:00pm. Tickets are $20.

Multi-faceted soul singer Russell Taylor unlocks a masterpiece in his latest (and third) album War of Hearts, set to release on his own Indigo Blue label. War of Hearts includes collaborations with Grammy Award-winning producer Needlz (Lil' Wayne, Bruno Mars, Drake, Lupe Fiasco), Tim Kvanosky of Tiny Hearts and Salakida Kali. In early 2014, Russell Taylor became the first to win VH1's coveted "You Oughta Know" distinction after beating over four hundred competitors in the network's first-ever crowd-sourced contest on Artists.VH1.com.

The self-professed nomad has poured out his heart and soul on the world stages, from London, Amsterdam and Paris to NYC and LA. He has performed with the likes of from Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, India.Arie, Isaac Hayes and Patti LaBelle. Russell made his Broadway directorial debut in Gems for one night only in 2012. He has also directed plays including Ntozake Shange's For Colored Girls at The New School as well as mentoring urban youths of color in the arts. Colorado-based five-piece Elephant Revival has a deep commitment to certain ideals: community, recognizing one's place in the flow of the natural world, harmony. Holding on to these ideals, they have weathered storms with aplomb, and in doing so, have produced their best album to date: These Changing Skies.?The group's shared values matched with the synergy of their disparate musical influences have created a cohesive tapestry, enhanced the more they play together, of music and lyrics. "It really is a natural confluence of our elemental influences," says bassist/multi-instrumentalist Dango Rose. Elephant Revival's worldview is connecting with fans; the band is a favorite at festivals such as Telluride Bluegrass, Vancouver Folk Festival and Old Settlers; and venues like Joe's Pub in NYC, The Ark in Ann Arbor and The Tractor Tavern in Seattle. Walter Martin, of The Walkmen, found out his wife was pregnant with their first child just as the New York band was finishing their 2012 album Heaven. With fatherhood on the horizon, Martin felt it was time for a challenge. He had co-written songs for the band since they had formed in 2000, but now he just wanted to write something for himself. Standing in his kitchen the summer of 2012, surrounded by his young family and listening to their collection of 1950s rock 'n' roll records, he realized what that meant exactly. We're All Young Together is a sweet, funny, rough-around-the-edges family record, as he likens it, that is intended to entertain the little ones, while getting a laugh out of their parents. Inspired by early rock & roll, it is filled with the kind of innocent yet mischievous music that has long struck a chord with Martin. "I'm calling it family music because I want families to enjoy it together," explains Martin. "But to me it's just rock 'n' roll done the old-fashioned way." Walter Martin will play Joe's Pub on Friday, May 16 at 7:30pm. Tickets are $18.

Take a blustery brass lineup, layer it over a rhythm section led by a Fats Waller-style stride-piano virtuoso, and tie the whole thing together with a magnetic, one-of-the-boys frontwoman whose voice recalls another era, and you have The Hot Sardines. This NYC-based outfit, which includes a tap dancer, has been called "consistently electrifying live" by Popmatters. The Sardine sound - wartime Paris via New Orleans, or the other way around - is strongly influenced by the straight-up, foot-stomping jazz Louis Armstrong, Django Reinhardt and Waller used to make. Reflecting a philosophy that hot jazz, Dixieland and Tin Pan Alley tunes are all pop music (and not delicate historical artifacts), pianist-bandleader Evan "Bibs" Palazzo and Paris-born singer Miz Elizabeth describe their band as "born in the 1920s, but raised in the '00s." The Sardines continue their monthly residency at Joe's Pub through July. This month's performance is at 9:30pm on May 16. It is sold out.

Pam Ann, the iconic international air hostess to the stars (and alter-ego of Australian writer and comedian Caroline Reid), is back with her new improv-based show Fly on Friday and Saturday, May 16 and 17 at 11:30pm. Her most un-PC, filthiest, topical, funniest and most explosive show to date, FLYwill take passengers on the flight of their lives from check-in to security, boarding and (hopefully) landing with filthy material guaranteed to make your toes curl and have you gagging for more.

With enough chutzpah and insider knowledge to rival a Qantas CEO, no one does airline satire quite like Pam Ann. First, Business or 'Cattle,' there is no part of air travel that Pam can't negotiate. She has an air hanger filled with airborne commentary on the quirks of some of the biggest international airlines, as well as stereotypes commonly held about flight attendants everywhere. Pam's genius mix of camp, culture, humor and Pucci-clad fabulousness has seen her crew Elton John's private jet, share a stage on a UK stadium tour with Cher, and count Madonna in her worldwide legion of cult-like fans. The Civilians, New York's award-winning investigative theater company, is back with Let Me Ascertain You: F*cking & Dying on Saturday, May 17 at 7:00pm. Anyone familiar with The Civilians knows that they are a bit obsessed with sex and death. This one-night event will explore what happens when those fixations collide. Drawing inspiration from their past investigations into the porn industry, sexual deviancy, and dying and the afterlife, The Civilians dig even deeper to get people to open up about life's most carnal yet taboo topics.

This unique cabaret of original songs and monologues looks at the duality of human nature and our competing sex and death drives, or to get Freudian, Eros vs. Thanatos. The Civilians present real-life stories about our instinct for life, love and reproduction against our instinct toward death, aggression, and repulsion. Some of New York's hottest downtown performers and musicians will reveal tales of morbid curiosities and dirty secrets on the path to nirvana. Tickets are $15.

Natalie Imani is a music industry jewel who is at the turning point of her musical career. With performances at The White House, Beyonce's recent Chime For Change concert, background vocals for John Legend, Neyo, Shaggy, Jennifer Hudson and more under her belt, Natalie is prepared to take Europe by storm this summer. Never one to shy away from performing, Natalie is excited to display her gift at her Single Release Performance on Saturday, May 17 at 9:30pm to fans, family and friends with her first performance of the year! Can radical writers change the world? In Glaspell's timely but little-known 1917 play, the editor of a struggling magazine has to decide whether to keep up the fight - with plenty of not-always-helpful input from his staff and his readers. The evening's special cast will be comprised entirely of our leading political journalists, including David Brooks (The New York Times), Ta-Nehisi Coates (The Atlantic), Michelle Goldberg (The Nation), Christopher Hayes (MSNBC), Hendrik Hertzberg (The New Yorker), Maria Hinojosa (NPR), Reihan Salam (National Review), Ben Smith (BuzzFeed), Bhaskar Sunkara (Jacobin), and more.

The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre, the acclaimed comedy/variety show, closes out its three month engagement on Sunday, May 18 at 9:30pm with a celebration of pop superstar Janet Jackson. Tickets are $20.

Justin Sayre, the show's creator, writer and host, serves as the Chairman of the Board of the International Order of Sodomites and brings his singular wit to essential business of the day through such regular features such as "Letters to the Chairman" and "New Rulings from the Board."
