DEAD ACCOUNTS has just announced that two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz and Katie Holmes will be joined by Judy Greer, Josh Hamilton, and Tony Award nominee Jayne Houdyshell on Broadway this fall.
DEAD ACCOUNTS, the new comedy by Pulitzer Prize finalist Theresa Rebeck, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O’Brien starts previews Saturday, November 3 and opens Thursday, November 29 at Broadway’s Music Box Theatre (239 West 45th Street).
Greer is making her Broadway debut in DEAD ACCOUNTS playing Jenny, the wife of Jack (Butz). Greer most recently gave a memorable performance in the Oscar-winning film The Descendents where she and her fellow cast members were nominated for SAG, Broadcast Film Critics Circle, and Gotham Awards for Best Ensemble. Her numerous film and television credits include “Two and a Half Men,” “Arrested Development,” 27 Dresses, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” The Village, and Jawbreaker. Greer is a graduate of DePaul University’s theatre school and starring in Paul Weitz’s 2006 play Show People at Second Stage.
Hamilton returns to Broadway after having appeared in Tom Stoppard’s acclaimed trilogy The Coast of Utopia directed by Jack O’Brien. His other theatrical credits include his Drama Desk and Lortel Award nominated performance in the 2005 revival of Hurlyburly. He most recently starred in Kenneth Lonergan’s world premiere of Medieval Play and in Three Sisters at CSC, The Bridge Project’s productions of The Cherry Orchard and A Winter’s Tale directed by Sam Mendes, This Is Our Youth, and subUrbia. His film and television credits include J. Edgar, Margaret, and “Louie.” In DEAD ACCOUNTS, Hamilton plays Phil, a childhood friend of Jack (Norbert Leo Butz).
Houdyshell received Tony Award nominations for last season’s acclaimed revival of Follies and for her 2006 Broadway debut in Well. In addition, for Well, she also received Theatre World and Obie awards. She is currently appearing in Horton’s Foote’s Harrison, TX. Her other acclaimed performances include Adam Bock’s The Receptionist, Paul Rudnick’s The New Century, and the musical Coraline. In DEAD ACCOUNTS, Houdyshell plays Barbara, the mother of Jack (Butz) and Lorna (Katie Holmes).
In DEAD ACCOUNTS, Jack’s (Norbert Leo Butz) unexpected return throws his family into a frenzy, and his sister Lorna (Katie Holmes) needs answers. Is he coming home or running away? Where is his wife (Judy Greer) everyone hates? And how did he get all that money? Theresa Rebeck’s new comedy tackles the timely issues of corporate greed, small town values, and whether or not your family will always welcome you back…with no questions asked.
