The box office at the Belasco Theatre (111 W. 44th St.) will open on Monday, January 22nd for R.C. Sherriff's play Journey's End, with previews starting on February 8th in advance of a February 22nd opening.

Boyett/Ostar Productions (History Boys, Spamalot), Stephanie McClelland, Bill Rollnick, James D'Orta and Philip Geier will present the play, which enjoyed an acclaimed run in London in 2004. "Based on a true experience of friendship, bonding and survival, Sheriff's play is set in a trench in St. Quentin, France, and follows a group of British officers awaiting their day of reckoning," state production notes.

Under the direction of David Grindley, who helmed the 2004 London production, Journey's End stars Hugh Dancy (Emmy Award-nominee), Boyd Gaines (three-time Tony Award winner), Jefferson Mays (Tony Award winner) and film actor Stark Sands.

British actor Dancy makes his Broadway debut after numerous films (Ella Enchanted, Black Hawk Down, King Arthur) and television appearances, including "Elizabeth I," for which his was Emmy-nominated. Gaines, who won Tony Awards for The Heidi Chronicles, She Loves Me and Contact, was last seen on Broadway in the Roundabout revival of Twelve Angry Men. Mays received a Tony Award for I Am My Own Wife, which he has performed internationally. Stark Sands was seen in Flags of Our Fathers, "Six Feet Under" and Die, Mommy, Die!

Also featured in the cast are John Ahlin, Nick Berg Barnes, John Behlmann, Justin Blanchard, Kieran Campion, John Curless and Richard Poe. The all-British design team for Journey's End includes Jonathan Fensom (scenic and costume designer), Jason Taylor (lighting) and Gregory Clarke (sound).

Director Grindley says, "I'm delighted that my production of Journey's End will open on Broadway. The play is a most extraordinary experience. It was meant to play an 8 week season in the West End in honor of the 75th anniversary of its first production and, instead, it ran for 2 years in addition to 2 national tours. This classic play needs to be seen now more than ever, and I'm sure it will have a great impact with New York audiences."

The playing schedule for Journey's End at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street) is as follows: Tuesdays through Saturdays at 8PM, with matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2PM and Sundays at 3PM. Tickets are $36.25 - $96.25. Premium seating is also available. For tickets call Telecharge at (212) 239-6200 or visit www.telecharge.com. For group sales, call (212) 239-6200.
