Josh Lucas is John Dillinger in Free 2/22 Play Reading

Film and theatre star Josh Lucas/> will play the legendary gangster of the title in a free reading of Bruce Konenberg's The Unauthorized Moving Picture of John Dillinger, which will be presented on Thursday, February 22nd at 3pm at Manhattan Theatre Club's offices (311 West 43rd Street).

The reading will also star Jeremy Shamos/> (Gutenberg! The Musical!, The Rivals), Cynthia Darlow/> (Rabbit Hole) and T. Ryder Smith/> (Underneath the Lintel), as well as Jason Liebrecht, Jenny Maguire, and Chuck Montgomery.  Elyse Singer will direct.

According to press notes, the play is set in 1934, "in a remote vacation lodge in the woods of Northern Wisconsin where Public Enemy Number One, John Dillinger, is hiding out with his crew after a bank job.  While there, he has agreed to meet with two men from Hollywood who are interested in making a movie based on his life."

Lucas has appeared on Broadway in The Glass Menagerie and Off-Broadway in Corpus Christi.  His film credits include Poseidon, Secondhand Lions, Sweet Home Alabama, The Deep End, A Beautiful Mind, You Can Count On Me, and American Psycho.
