Actors Josh Hamilton, Frankie Faison, and Kathryn Erbe headline Theater of War's End of Life on October 28th as part of Reimagine End of Life, a weeklong, citywide festival exploring death taking place from October 27th to November 3rd.
Theater of War's End of Life is an innovative project that presents dramatic readings of two ancient Greek plays, Sophocles' Philoctetes and Women of Trachis, as a catalyst for town hall discussions about the ethics and emotions surrounding end of life care.
Following the reading Bryan Doerries, Theater of War Artistic Director and Public Artist in Residence for the City of New York, will moderate the town hall, which is intended to foster compassion, cooperation, awareness, and understanding of chronic suffering and mortality.
The event will take place on Sunday, October 28th from 2-4pm at Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan's Goldman-Sonnenfeldt Auditorium. Tickets are free but guests must RSVP in advance at https://letsreimagine.org/586/theater-of-war-presents-end-of-life
Reimagine End of Life will unfold not just in theaters, museums, galleries, and concert halls across New York City's five boroughs, but also in hospitals, houses of worship, senior centers, and even cemeteries. It will showcase more than 250 events -- from comedy nights, concerts, and film screenings to a master class on writing your own obituary and a workshop on ensuring your end-of-life wishes are honored.
