Joop van den Ende Receives 29 Kraaijkamp Award Noms.

Joop van den Ende theater  productions received a record number of 29 nominations for the 2008 John Kraaijkamp Musical Awards. The company's own original Dutch musical, Ciske de Rat, received 13 nominations. This is the most nominations any musical has ever received in the history of the John Kraaijkamp Musical Awards. The "musical of musicals," Les Misérables, received seven nominations, Evita got six, and the spectacular new dance show, Dirty Dancing, got three.

Besides all this, Ciske de Rat, Evita, Dirty Dancing and Tarzan are in the running to win the 2008 ANWB Publieksprijs.

Best Leading Actress in a Large Musical: Mariska van Kolck (Ciske de Rat), Brigitte Heitzer (Evita).
Best Leading Actor in a Large Musical: Danny de Munk (Ciske de Rat), René van Kooten and Wim van den Driessche (Les Misérables), Stanley Burleson (Evita).
Best Supporting Actress in a Large Musical: Marjolijn Touw (Ciske de Rat), Marjolijn Algera (Les Misérables).
Best Supporting Actor in a Large Musical: Hajo Bruins (Ciske de Rat), Jamai Loman (Les Misérables).
Up-and-coming Talent: Freek Bartels (Les Misérables), Jette Carolijn van den Berg (Dirty Dancing).
Best Translation/Adaptation: André Breedland and Maurice Wijnen (Ciske de Rat), Daniël Cohen (Evita).
Best Script: André Breedland (Ciske de Rat), Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel (Les Misérables).
Best Lyrics: André Breedland (Ciske de Rat).
Best Set Design: Arjen Klerkx, Misjel Vermeiren, Carla Janssen-Höfelt and Coen Bouman (Ciske de Rat), Eric van der Palen (Evita).
Best Musical Arrangements: Henny Vrienten (Ciske de Rat).
Best Director: Paul Eenens (Ciske de Rat).
Best Choreography/Musical Staging: Stanley Burleson (Ciske de Rat), Kate Champion (Dirty Dancing).
Best Lighting Design: Uri Rapaport (Ciske de Rat), David Hersey and Richard Pacholski (Les Misérables).
Best Sound Design: Jeroen ten Brinke (Evita).
Best Costumes/Wigs/Make-up: Yan Tax (Ciske de Rat), Cocky van Huijkelom (Evita), Bobby Aitken (Dirty Dancing).

Due to its outstanding box-office success, Ciske de Rat – the Musical  is scheduled for additional performances throughout the country until the end of 2008, including a run from October 1st through 19th in the RAI Theatre in Amsterdam. The successful production of Evita is also being extended through November 16th,  2008. Les Misérables is being performed exclusively in the new Luxor Theater in Rotterdam and will close in just a few months. Dirty Dancing can be seen only at the Beatrix Theater in Utrecht.
