Redshift Productions will present the US Premiere of famed award-winning chemist/playwright Carl Djerassi's Phallacy, which is fresh off an acclaimed London-run. This production will be directed by Elena Araoz. The play will begin productions on Tuesday, May 15, opening on Friday, May 18 - June 10, 2007 at The Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St).

"She's a top art historian in a world famous museum.  He's a distinguished professor of chemistry. She searches for artistic truth through connoisseurship; he finds scientific fact through cold material analysis.  Between them stands the object of her affection: a revered classical statue long thought to be a roman original…and he just proved it to be a 16th century cast.  But is it now worth less?  Is it now less beautiful?  As personal rivalries and professional reputations clash, how far will each go to prove the other wrong? Find out in the American Premiere of Phallacy, the intriguing and topical new play by award-winning and renowned scientist and writer Carl Djerassi," state press notes.

The cast includes: Lisa Harrow (The Last Days of Chez Nous, AFI Award for Best Actress, Sunday, Independent Spirit Award Nom.), Simon Jones (TACT'S Home; TV: "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy," "Brideshead Revisited," "Oz;" Bway: Waiting in the Wings, Benefactors, The Real Thing), Vince Nappo (TFANA's Merchant of Venice and Jew of Malta), and Carrie Heitman (Sideways Stories From Wayside School).
