A host of Broadway stars gathered to record the music of Jonathan Reid Gealt for an album to benefit Broadway Impact, released today, April 30, 2013.
Produced by Jonathan Reid Gealt, James Bilodeau, Matt Hinkley, and Brian Parker (Parker and Friends, Inc),"Here For You - Ballads for Broadway Impact" features performances by Tony nominees Jeremy Jordan and Kelli O'Hara; The Voice finalist Loren Allred; Caissie Levy, Rachel Potter, Katie Thompson, Adrienne Warren, Jason Gotay and Natalie Weiss. Matt Hinkley serves as the musical director and co-arranger for this acoustic 9 track album.
The album launched with a release concert at The Cutting Room last night, April 29, 2013. In addition to Allred, Gotay, Potter, Warren, and Weiss, the concert featured Zak Resnick (Mamma Mia!), Emma Hunton (Spring Awakening, RENT), Michael Deleget (LES MISERABLES), Dan DeLuca and more. Concert-goes can expect to hear songs from "Here For You", Gealt's debut album "Thirteen Stories Down" and songs from his upcoming musical "Dust and Shadow" as well as songs from various other projects.
A fixture in New York since 2005, Jonathan Reid Gealt's debut album "Thirteen Stories Down" was released in 2011 on Sh-k-Boom/Ghostlight Records. Produced by 7 time Grammy Award winner Joel Moss, the album features a slew of Broadway favorites. A member of the advanced BMI Theater Writing Workshop, he is at work adapting the novel "Dust and Shadow", which had a 29 hour reading in November 2012. The demo recording of Jonathan's first full length song cycle, Forward, gained considerable buzz online and in New York City. Collectively, his online videos have passed more than 3 quarters of a million views. Jonathan's music has been featured in sold out venues and concerts all over New York City including the Broadway in South Africa benefits, Symphony Space, The Canal Room, Joe's Pub, The Triad, The Laurie Beechman Theatre, The Lucille Lortel, Le Poisson Rouge and Birdland. Outside New York City, his music has been sung around the world including Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Manila, Japan, Australia, and Canada, as well as a sold out concert debut in London this past year. A winner of the 2009 Human Rights Campaign Community Award, Broadway Impact produced a 3,000-piece, letter-writing campaign and made over 16,000 phone calls in support of the New York marriage equality bill. The organization has also produced a major 2009 Times Square Equality rally and transported 1,400 New Yorkers on chartered buses to the national equality march in Washington, DC, produced a summer concert series with the Broadway casts of American Idiot, Memphis and Next to Normal to raise awareness about marriage equality, staged a series of "Be-ins" with the Broadway and National Tour companies of Hair to bring attention to marriage equality issues.
