Jonathan Groff will sing the national anthem to kick off a day of harness racing at Harrah's Chester, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Groff received a Tony nomination for playing Melchior in the hit Broadway musical SPRING AWAKENING and starred as Claude in The Public's 2008 Shakespeare in the Park production of HAIR. He also appeared in the New York premiere of Craig Lucas' THE SINGING FOREST at The Public Theatre and Craig Lucas' A PRAYER FOR MY Enemy at Playwrights Horizons.

His other credits include In My Life on Broadway and regional productions of The Sound of Music, Fame, Honk!, and Bat Boy. Groff was seen on the big screen in Taking Woodstock and on the New York stage in THE BACCHAE at the Delacorte Theater, as well as in a recurring role on the smash hit FOX show GLEE. His next project will be MCC's THE SUBMISSION, which begins performances for its limited engagement on September 8 prior to a September 26 opening night.

Groff, a Lancaster native whose father is a veteran harness driver and trainer, will sing the Star Spangled Banner at 1:30pm this Sunday.
