The Laurie Beechman Theatre is pleased to continue "The After Party," an informal midtown schmoozefest for the theatrically inclined. Every Friday from 10:30PM-2AM, join hosts Brandon Cutrell (MAC & Bistro Award-winner) and Alysha Umphress (XL Star), Ray Fellman (Captain Louie) at the piano and Lisa Asher (Nightlife Award Winner) for this weekly party in the theatre district. There is no cover charge.
Friday, October 19, "The After Party" is pleased to welcome
Spring Awakening's
Jonathan Groff and 2005 Miss Fire Island Entertainer of the Year,
Gusty Winds. Both will be on hand to greet fans and perform a few numbers as only they can.
Jonathan Groff is currently playing Melchior in
Spring Awakening. He received a 2007 Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance in
Spring Awakening. Other Broadway credits include
In My Life. Regionally and on tour Jonathan has been seen in
The Sound of Music (Rolf),
Fame (Nick),
Bat Boy (Bat Boy), and
Honk! (Ugly).
Gusty Winds' television appearances include "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy," "Primetime Live with
Diane Sawyer" and "The Rikki Lake Show." She also starred in a commercial for MTV's
Jackass 2. In addition to her titles of 2005 Miss Fire Island Entertainer of the Year and 2001 Miss Grove Hotel, Gusty was the recipient of the 2005 GLAMMY Award for Best Performance of the Year.
The
Laurie Beechman Theatre is located downstairs, within The West Bank Café, 407 West 42nd St. at 9th Avenue. There is a full bar and bar menu available, and reservations are not necessary for this event. "The After Party" highly recommends audience members arrive early. Seating is first come, first serve. Priority seating may be given to those who wish to order from the menu and/or the bar.
