Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Renee Blinkwolt, Managing Director) has announced performers slated to appear at The Ars Nova Revolution, celebrating Ars Nova All Stars Jill Furman, Thomas Kail and Lin-Manuel Miranda, from Freestyle Love Supreme (Ars Nova, 2004) to Hamilton (Broadway, 2015), in a night of revelry benefiting Ars Nova's artist community. The Ars Nova Revolution, taking place Monday, September 21 at 6:30pm at The Edison Ballroom, features performances by Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Mandy Gonzalez, Jonathan Groff, Christopher Jackson, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Jo Lampert, Arthur Lewis, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., Okieriete Onaodowan, Anthony Ramos, Bill Sherman, Phillipa Soo, Chris Sullivan, Shaina Taub, Anthony Veneziale, and more.
Ars Nova began its relationship with honorees Jill Furman, Thomas Kail and Lin-Manuel Miranda in 2003 when an unknown Kail and Miranda, (along with their collaborator Anthony Veneziale), introduced Ars Nova to their dynamic comedy-music-hip hop group Freestyle Love Supreme. Artistic Director Jason Eagan recalls, "I'll never forget the insane amount of energy and enthusiasm the guys had in that first meeting. It was infectious and I was instantly enamored with their talent and intellect." Partnering with producer Jill Furman, who was working on another project with Miranda and Kail, Ars Nova co-produced Miranda and Kail's first professional New York production, the critically acclaimed audience favorite, Freestyle Love Supreme, in 2004. Since this break out moment with Ars Nova, Furman, Kail and Miranda continued their successful collaboration on the Tony Award Winning Broadway production of In the Heights and this season's sensation, Hamilton. "It feels especially fitting to honor these three Ars Nova All Stars for their excellence and innovation in the American theater at such a monumental high point in their careers. Jill shares Ars Nova's philosophy of getting behind an artist's vision in a holistic way. Tommy and Lin have a bigger playground now, but continue to think outside the box and innovate as they did on the Ars stage. These guys are a true testament to what Ars Nova's commitment to provide early opportunities to talented artists with big ideas can really do." Mr. Eagan said.
